It has been several years since I have been at US. (1996 last visit) However, we have decided to go this year because my husband loves it and because my 2 1/2 year old daughter loves Shrek. Is the new Shrek okay for her? She is not easily scared, but I would like to be able to prepare her in advance. What about for her 1 year old sister?

Also, does US have money similar to Disney Dollars that we can exchange and use in the parks? If so, where can I get them?

Thanks! These boards are fabulous!

Shrek is not really scary. He used to talk to people a lot. Since they put a mask on him, I haven't heard a peep from him.

I've heard of Woody Bucks at Universal, but I haven't had confirmation that anyone has bought or used them.

Universal has scrip, but I rarely see it. I've seen Citybucks, and have used them. Alas, I am unsure where to get them. Guest Services would know.

And Shrek isnt all that scary. It's FUN! If your children can handle a lot of motion (not like BTTF or Jimmy Neutron(Hanna Barbera as you remember)) then it'll be fine. If not, there is stationary seating available.

I was asked to take a survey and they gave me 3 woody bucks! I didnt spend them I put them in my scrap book.

I have some coupons that came in my Entertainment Book. They state:

"$10 in Unviersal Bucks with each 3-Day/2-Park Admission"

The fine print:
Valid for $10 in Universal bucks with the purchase of each full paid adult 3-day/2-park admission or $7 in universal bucks with the purchase of each full paid child (3-9) 3-Day/2-Park admission.

Present certificate at front gate at time of purchase. Certificate valid for up to four people during one park visit. Valid thru 12/31/03.

Sounds like a good deal! My friend used her coupons to get Universal bucks when they went to US last Fall. You may be able to purchase these "bucks" at the front gate as well (for gifts etc..).

We just got back, and my 11-year-old son got freaked out during Shrek. Now, he doesn't like It's a Bug's Life at WDW because of the bugs "running" under your seat. We went into Shrek and there's a part where spiders get loose and you can "feel" them around your legs (it's just blowing air). He freaked out and refused to do it again. We managed to talk him into going on again our last day, showed him the little tubes under the seat where the air comes out, and he did ok the 2nd time.

If your kids are 1 and 2 years old, chances are their legs will be too short to reach the floor anyway, so they probably won't feel it. Just wanted to warn you.......

BTW, Shrek is an AWESOME show!!

I absolutely loved Shrek 4-D but in addition to the spiders that Amy referenced, there is also a bad dragon counterpart to the
good pink dragon that Donkey has hooked up with. At one point,
the bad dragon pops out of the screen in all his 3-D glory. As
adults, it's just a cool effect but for a 2 1/2 & 1 year old, I would
think it could be very scary. I always told my DS's when they were little that they should just take off the 3-D glasses if something scared them and the effect wouldn't pop out at them.

The show is just phenomenal, we loved it!

Thank you everyone for your responses! Now, I know what to prepare my daughter for. :)
