Shrek 4-D

it's a movie, something similar to Bug Life's, with the exception that the seats do move forward and backwards in a rocking motion.

I've asked this question before on the UK boards - how scary is Shrek?

The children in our party thought ITTBAB and HISTA too intense, although they all love Spiderman. Previously I've been told it's fine - more like Muppets - but there's a thread going over there at the moment which is making me wonder. Are there spiders??

YES. I've mentioned this before. There is a small part that have "scary" spiders. OK, I admit, they are scary for me...I have a big fear of spiders...LOL...truly pathetic when animated spiders freak you out...:p

There is a spider part, but it's not bad at all. You feel them for less than 2 seconds.

it's an attraction not to be missed!

I think it is important to note that the spiders are simulated--a blast of air on your feet. I think if the kids' feet don't touch the floor, they may not even feel the "spiders".

IMGONNABE40 is right...have the kids sit with their legs crossed (Indian style, as they used to callit)...that's what I do...:p

Hmmmm....

I've been telling everyone this is OK, but as my entire party has arachnophobia - except me - I'm having second thoughts about exposing them to something that will freak the kids out.

Feet up sounds like a good plan. DS is nearly as tall as I am and claims he'd pick up a cockroach in his bare hands, but is truly terrified of spiders!

Please could someone describe to me EXACTLY what goes on with these spiders. Don't mind if it's a spoiler - need to avoid hysterical kids at all costs!

Thanks

PS. There still seems to be a problem with my countdown. It's going ever so slowly...... :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

The spiders appear in the first few minutes. Donkey and Shrek are talking, when a spider drops down. Shrek teases Donkey, then a whole bunch of spiders appear. They drop down and scatter and then are gone.

And that's it? Are the spiders cartoony or bath-spidery like in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? And is there menace, or is it too quick to be really creepy?

And there's nothing else scary, flying or stinging?? ;)

Were there any scared kids as far as you could see?

Sorry for being so paranoid, but we've had a couple of bad experiences with ITTBAB and HISTA that I'd rather not repeat. I know DS12 will fare better with T23D than another ITTBAB!

Thanks. Don't know what I'd do without these boards!

They are pretty cartoony looking but a big, hairy, with big red eyes and look like they are right there at your face...then they fall to the ground and you feel air blow at your feet which makes it feel like the spiders are at your feet.

I think your kids will be OK. Just let them decide if they want to sit with their legs crossed or not. It doesn't last long though. Seconds, if even that long. The rest of the ride is fine.

FYI - I seriously don't think your DS will be scared of the Spiders though. I'm just weird I guess :p

Thanks FlyFly - you've put my mind at rest. My DS is very scared of spiders, but I think he may be OK with this. If he knows it's just that, he can close his eyes and tuck his legs up - and if it's at the beginning, he can then relax for the rest.

It's amazing how scared you can be of nothing.

I sat in a listening booth at Conservation Station at AK, with headphones on in semi darkness. I could see people outside the booth and my DS and DH inside, but the sound of a cheetah (or something) growling right behind my neck really scared me. And I'm pretty fearless when it comes to animals (except swarms of the flying stinging sort!).

My wife is not "comfortable with spiders" but she was okay. I have to say it feels real, but not long enough to make it a bad experience. ITTBAB is worse in my opinion.

I've been to Shrek at least 25 times and have never heard any kids crying from fear.

How long does the rocking motion with the chairs last??????? I child very motion sick!

Lynda

The movie is 12 minutes. The rocking simulates horses running or Shrek jumping etc. The longest continual rocking would be about 1 minute. They have stationary seating in front.
