Shows Twice? :(

The reply I got from shoreside customer service was basically a screw you we don't care what guests think about this issue thing. I mean, yes, they read the comment card, but they definitely didn't indicate that my comments mattered to them.
I got a benign reply from shoreside customer service. So, I contacted the executive office and corresponded with the executive in charge of Disney Signature Experiences (DCL, ABD and DVC). We exchanged a few emails, and I am convinced that DCL truly wants to provide an outstanding entertainment experience to its guests.

Looking through the posts on this thread there are diverse opinions on this test. Personally, I believe DCL can accomplish its goal using a matinee for repeat performances, and, ensuring the quality of entertainment on the Walt Disney Theatre is so high that people are enthused to attend shows in that venue.

Bravo! I vote for THIS!!! party:

The other thing that's disappointing is that if they are going to be repeating shows, since guests are not going to go see it both nights, they should be significantly increasing the other activities offered around the ship at those times to compensate - but i do not believe that is happening. Historically, during the times that performances of the shows were going on, there would be little to no activities scheduled - with the assumption being just about everyone was either at the show or eating dinner. Now, that's no longer the case.

The WDT performers have several other jobs on board dealing closely with character appearances. Some are very very "close friends" with the characters and all act as line managers. If the full cast is in the theater every night, that will also reduce character options. Look at how sparse the meet and greets were on the Med this summer!

That is a great point. Now that shows in the Main Theater are being doubled up, there is room for additional activities to be added during those times, since many people will only choose to see the Main show once. Hopefully this will lead to lots of new opportunities. If not, our comment cards will be ready.

See this was our experience. There were a lot MORE activities during show times. A magician did a show in the Tube opposite the WDW show that taught a few basic magic tricks, Buckets and Boards did a kids workshop where all the kids came on stage and learned a few basic routines... the Tube was never crowded during these shows (it was still crowded for the adult only shows later in the evening but not during the WDW showtimes). So for us this was a win because we had felt like you either saw the show or were on your own in the past and now there was flexibility.

I really do understand that for some people this isn’t a good thing and they really liked the old system, but for us it was the opposite.

We’ve also noticed the past 3 cruises that the WDW theater was pretty empty for the variety acts. We do second seating so our show times are always a little less crowded but the last time we were on with a variety in the WDW no one was sitting in the back 1/3 of the theater (after the big cross aisle) and nO one was in the balcony. I’m not sure if that was the exception and others have been more crowded, but those low crowds could also influence this.
