Does Disney offer shows interpreted in ASL? We are planning to visit MK and AK.
SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION
The Walt Disney World® Resort provides Sign Language interpretation for our Guests at specific live Theme Park shows on a rotating basis as follows:
Disney's Hollywood Studios" - Sundays, Wednesdays
Magic Kingdom® Park - Mondays, Thursdays
Epcot® - Tuesdays, Fridays
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park - Saturdays
Guests should request confirmation of our interpreted performance schedule a minimum of 7 days in advance by calling Walt Disney World® Resort Information at (407) 824-4321* [voice] or (407) 827-5141* [TTY]. Guests will be contacted prior to their visit with an appropriate show schedule that lists the names, dates, and times of our interpreted performances. Sign Language interpretation is one of several services available in our theme parks for Guests with hearing disabilities.
Also, does anyone know what the CM's pins look like that signify they know ASL?
Actually the interpreters do have name tags but take them off while interpreting. Get hit too often and could become missles. This doesn't include the interpreters (they don't wear nametags). But for CMs, the nametag will have a flag underneath it, with a SL in finger spelling.

The tags have a flag with SL in the ASL manual alphabet. Keep a look out for it. I have met some awesome deaf CMs and they tend to spoil other people that can communicate with them.
From your mouth to God's ears. You can do it.I hope to get a nametag with the ASL flag this summer.![]()
The interpreters and deaf CM will love it. And they are great with kids. When in Sept will you be there. I probably will go the weekend after Labor Day because I love going to Night of Joy.Every time I see one of these threads I get more and more excited for our September trip.
My son will be 2.5 then and his ASL is coming along WAY better than mine at this point. No real surprise to me, that kid is too smart for my own good. He'll be off the walls to see Disney to begin with, and knowing that there will be people for him to sign with will be the icing on the cake.
We'll be there arriving on the 13th and staying for a week. Sounds like that would be after your visit. Bummer! I love getting to meet other DisBoarders.
Yep, Night of Joy will probably be September 11th and 12th, the weekend before. We'll be there arriving on the 13th and staying for a week. Sounds like that would be after your visit. Bummer! I love getting to meet other DisBoarders.
We'll be coming down on a Sunday, looks like right after the Night of Joy (good news for crowds going down, less good for getting to see everyone).
Joanna, when we get closer we should plan something to meet up!
