I am helping to organize a large group. If I make a reservation for the group and then something happens to ME, say I get sick or need to bail for some reason, will the restaurant still let them check in and eat if they give them my name at check in? Do they need to pretend to be me? Or can they just tell them the reservation is under my name, but I'm not able to come?

I expect to be at the meals, but want to make sure the whole plan doesn't hinge on my health and presence.

Thanks!

They do not check your ID when you check in for your reservation. As long as the large party shows it should be ok I would think. Remember that they will have your credit card and if for some reason your party doesn't make your reservation you will be charged. Good Luck!

They only need to check in using the name on the reservation, no ID needed. I made several ADRs for a friend on my account and she just checked in using my name.

But like PP said, make sure it's someone you trust because if they no show that will be a LARGE fee on your card!

Thanks so much! I am well aware of the fee and have warned everyone of it. These are good friends I trust, but still I have warned them I will seek revenge if it happens.
