My mother and sisters are planning a shower for me in August up in NJ (where all of my family is). Since I'm having an Intimate, I'm looking forward to getting together w/ friends and relatives who aren't able to come to the wedding....
Since I live in South Florida, it's going to be hard to have a surprise shower in NJ - I have to take off of work and fly up there....so I'm sort of "in on" some of the planning aspects. My sister (who loves organizing and planning parties and things - she's the queen of lists and has already ordered the favors - though I'm not allowed to know what they are) is trying to think of decent "games" or activities for the shower. Since we're anticipating most gifts being money or gift cards, the whole Bridal Bingo game is out (can't say I'm sad to see it go either!)
So here's my question (finally ;) ): does anyone know of any decent (not too corny) shower games to play? Possibly with a Disney touch???
Thanks!

I'm in the exact same boat as you! I know when my shower is and am a little in on the planning. I have to go up to my hometown in NJ and I live in Atlanta, so I had to know when it is.

I am not into playing the bridal games. They are just not me. A lot of my mom's friends will be there and they don't even know my DF or a lot of my friends who will be there. I don't want to play the game where I have to say what DF's favorite whatever is b/c if I get it wrong his mom will get all snooty with me

I don't really know the details, but someone is planning like a getting to know you murder mystery. It won't be a murder mystery, just a mystery focused on a wedding. From what I understand, we'll all get to be characters and have to figure out "who stole the bride's veil" or something like that. It will be a good way for people to get to know each other and to pass time. You can do a search on the internet to find out more about these mystery games.

I can fill you in with more details after May 12 ;)

at my shower, we did a word scramble there were like 20 words all jumbled that when spelled correctly were wedding words, you could also do wedding/disney words, and we had a little prize for the winner. something i did for my sisters shower was give everyone some nice paper and have them write their favorite memory of them with my sister, or just of her, and then we read them out loud and she had to guess who wrote it/who the memory was with. we bound it after the shower and she saved it in her wedding scrapbook. we also had a thing when you walk in, a jar filled with hershey's kisses and everyone guessed how manyw ere in there and put it in a bowl, and whoever was closest got a prize. thats about all we did.

I say skip the games.. most people don't enjoy the games.. they would rather just sit around and talk and watch you open gifts... just a thought!:)

Two of my favorite Bridal Shower games (and one could be baby shower or anything really) -
"What's in Your Purse" and
"Who Knows the Bride Best"

We've played them at my shower and at showers I've thrown. "What's in Your Purse" is cool - you make a list of items and a point value and then make copies of the list and everyone gets a list and goes through their purse and if they have the item they get points. It's funny because you put common things with low points (like "lipstick = 1 point") and very uncommon things with high points ("condom = 20 points"). It's hilarious! I had one lady who won on "coupon = 3 points" because she had her entire coupon caddy in her purse!

"Who Knows the Bride Best" is fun - the person throwing the shower will think up questions and ask you and then not use all of them and make up lists of the questions for each guest and the guests have to fill it in - but you won't even know which questions she uses. Mine had things on it like "where was she born" "how did they meet" "what is her favorite TV show." My former roommate won - guess she knew me best!

We also liked Toilet Paper Veil. I did this for a freind's shower. Much easier than TP wedding dress - less TP  My one friend made rossettes out of TP!

One I threw I had a bowl with little pieces of paper in the wedding colors and coordinating pens by the door and everyone wrote well wishes for the bride and groom when they came in. I made a small scrapbook for her with pictures and these well wishes and she loved that.

I just love showers, they're fun :goodvibes
