Shower Curtain or Glass Shower Doors??

I've tried using diluted vinegar to no avail. I've read that straight vinegar will etch the glass--anybody know if this is true??

I would like to know this too. I never noticed any etching, and I soak mine in vinegar. Maybe I should take a closer look:confused:

We struggled with this when we built our home. We chose curtains for all three showers and have never looked back. You can buy the liners with weights in the bottom.... we use them for years - throw them in the washing machine and they come out good as new.

My current house has both. In the guest bath, it's a regular tub with shower curtain, but in my master bath, it's a shower with glass doors. That was one thing I didnt' think I was going to care for, but I LOVE it. I never realized how claustrophobic shower curtains made me feel. It feels SO roomy with my glass doors.

They made glass doors that swing out instead of the kind that slide, so you could get those. You have to have a little more room for it to swing out though. My mom's condo has that in her master bath and I wish I had the room in my bathroom at home to get that kind, but the location of the toilet makes it impossible.

We have had bathrooms with the tub/shower combo with the doors that I HATE, HATE, HATE. Our master bath now has a full glass shower and while I feel like I am at a spa while in the shower it is a pain to keep the glass clean, even using the daily spray, etc. I prefer shower curtains for the upkeep.

I use tilex mold/mildew formula, spray down the shower weekly with that and it works pretty well but they are still never spotless.

I prefer a fabric curtain that can go in the wash and a clear vinyl liner. When the liner gets gross it can go in the washer or the trash. I remember the nasty scum in the door tracks from my childhood. Icky. Impossible to clean and they hurt if you stepped or leaned on them. Not to mention the soap scum...

I hate the glass doors,I would go with shower curtains easy to clean and can use pretty outside curtains. I have tried the sprays on glass doors and it never worked for me.

We had shower doors in one of our bathrooms.
Hated them, pain to clean.
we now have shower curtains in both our bathrooms.

I think cleaning a glass shower door is less annoying than having to buy new curtains every so often with more coventional showers. But that's just my opinion... both options have their vices.

Thank you all for your help. In the end, even though the new tub/shower doors have an easy to clean track (unlike the old ones which I hear were impossible to clean) someone's comments about leaning over and also someone else about stepping on the track brought another problem to mind. My daughter and I both like to sit on the edge of the tub while shaving our legs. And although I no longer have little children, I do have a little doggie to bathe. I think my mind is made up. I'm going to go with the curtain.

Someone posted that they special order curtains? Where can you do this? Anyone know?

Thanks again! Its so nice to be able to "ask the audience" when I have a hard decision to make. :headache:
