Show me your "schedule" please

I generally make manual charts and play around with a number of different combinations of what parks at what times, trying to be the most efficient and see the most special events as possible (parades, fireworks, etc.).

We aren't big foodies and generally feel that TS meals take a lot of time out of touring (which is already limited by nap break with little kids). Last trip we did 5 TS meals and it was too many for us. This trip I only have 1 planned so far, but I'm considering adding another one. (We are staying at a condo, so we can have decent food for breakfast there, etc.).

We always get hoppers, for the flexibility.

With respect to what to do in the parks each day, I have a general idea of what I want to accomplish in the first 2 hours each morning. So, I'm an am commando. After that, I still like to move from attraction to attraction, but I'm more flexible (other than at DHS and AK when the show schedules are more limiting).

I also make sure that each person in the party gets to do something each day that is high on their priorities. For example, for our DHS day I believe that the priorities are as follows:

DH: Toy Story and ToT
DD7: RRC
DD4: Phineus and Ferb M&G, Little Mermain show
ME: New Star Tours, characterpalooza, Osbourne Lights

Similarly, when we went to DL last summer with a party of ten, I planned so that each person would have 1 or 2 special things geared towards them during the 4 day trip. Here is a sampling:

DMom (my mom) - the Aladdin theater show
DNiece (9) - ToT, California Screaming
DNephew (3) - all things Toy Story (Buzz, Toy Story Mania, etc.)
DSister (my sister) - fun shopping (but she had to wait until we'd done our morning routine)
DD (who was 6 at the time) - meeting new characters
DD (who was 3 at the time) - meeting Ariel
Me - riding Dumbo, experiencing attractions unique to DL
DDad (my dad) - the shooting gallery
DH - Space Mountain
DNiece (6) - getting ears

2 thumbs up for the spreadsheet :thumbsup2 so ya...what everyone else said. The one thing we do different is I have all the kiddies and the hubby tell me what their favorite things are and the things we could "live without" so we prioritize the rides/ shows. Then we know where we are going each morning at rope drop..we make our TS adr's for 5-6ish then head to the resort for pool/ relaxation each evening..we feel relaxed and get everything done:cool1:

excel spreadsheet - pm me your email and I'll send it to you and you can use as a template.

Has park hours and general idea of where we're going and when.

we are going same time as you :thumbsup2 We arrive in Orlando 9/10 late so we are staying offsite for $30 then heading to ASMo in the morning 9/11. I chose to avoid EMHs and I knew that we would do MNSSHP while we were there which is on 9/13 and that MNSSHP would also be our AK day so that day was planned. I also knew we would do a rest day after MNSSHP so that became our DTD day. F! is :thumbsup2 was originally showing on 9/15 (now it's every night during that time) so I knew that would be our DHS day. I didn't know that Tinkerbell would be back in MK before our trip so I made a final ADR at Akershus for our Departure morning so we could see Princesses then stop by the fairies. So all my days kinda fell into place for me. My schedule ended up like this...

Brunch at Chef Mickeys
Epcot for Illuminations

9/12
MK Day
BF at Crystal Palace
Dinner at Narcoossees

9/13

9/15

9/16

I also have a spread sheet with where we will be, ADRs and conf # for the day, park hours, parade and show times, and how to get places using Disney transportation. I put the transportation on there cause although I may have a good idea of how to get around since I have been doing the planning; my husband has no clue :lmao: This way if we get separated or one of us has to leave with sick child he knows where to go and how to get there.

:surfweb: I bet that confused everyone like it confuses my husband :rotfl:

I don't do spreadsheets, but I do a list of what our plan is. Here's our upcoming trip info. I'll have all info on my phone -- I have touring plans for AK, our first day at MK, and our first day at Epcot.

I make an excel spreadsheet (yeah i am one of THOSE people....)

What I do, is I start with the park hours, show hours, parade times and EMH hours for the week I am going to be there.

I do the exact same thing. For mine, I placed the EMHs for the 8 days, park hours, all the evening spectaculars, any transportation notices, reservations, refurbishments, and then a "must see" list per park. I might place a general park/area we'll be in that day, but it's usually "play it by ear" once we get there. It's small enough to tape to my suitcase and keep a folded copy in my purse, but it is detailed enough for me to take advantage of what Disney has to offer and limit my disappointments.

I like to set up where we are eatting, what parks we will be going to and any special shows we might want to see. We to from there go by ear and how we feel,we actcually most of the time switch up. It makes funner(love that word:rotfl2:) we try one time to go by eact schedule, but most of the time where just going by that schedule and it did not make it very fun. We ended up throwing it out. Now we just use it as a guide and if we stray from it no big deal!!.

Do you do a schedule for where you are going and when? Or do you just wing it day by day?
Do you start at one park and end at another?
Do you do Downtown Disney on a certain day?

I don't want to be exactly tied to a schedule. I want to be leisurely at all the parks but I do want to know what I am doing on what day. I was wondering if anyone could show me their schedule for the days they are there.
We will be there 9/10-9/17
Thanks!

I will be there the exact same dates! :cool1: Also, I am a spreadsheet person, too. I have parks and meals planned out but I do not plan out every little detail of the day. This is a great time of the year to go and generally the parks are not overcrowded. We are mostly a RD family that takes a break mid-day but occassionally we will start out our day at the resort and head to the parks later on. I try to balance late nights and early mornings. Here is a sample of our two MK days:

Mon, 9/12
Breakfast: Crystal Palace @ MK/8:10am
RD is @ 9am
Lunch: CS @ MK
Leave MK around 2pm and head back to resort
Pool
Dinner: Wolfgang Puck @ DTD

Wed, 9/14
sleep in/breakfast in room
BC pool
Lunch: CS @ BC
Head over to MK in time for parade 3:00pm
Dinner: CS @ MK
Elec Parade/Wishes 8:00pm/9:00pm

Hope you enjoy your trip! :)

I make a plan in my notes in Mail and download it to my iphone so Im not carrying extra papers around the park.

Each note is for one day at ea the parks.

I try to go to Downtown Disney on first and last day. That way you can get things to wear that week of autograph books for kiddos. Then take souvenirs home.

I have each day with park, time, special events for that day like parades or shows and each reservation and numbers. I even have which press penny machine and where it is located at that park. I do have nap times/down times for us in mid day. I also looked up quickest routes to all the places we go and come from back to hotel. bus, boat, or monorail.

Then download the notes to phone and it can easily be sent to spouse if needed.

eg of one note-
Sept 1 Magic Kingdom 8-10
7:00 wake up, take picture of kids ea morning*
7:10 boat to MK
7:35 Breakfast at Crystal Palace reservation # here.
and so on...

To Do:
  • penny machine: Stitch at such and such place
  • list of ride we can do as a family since I have young ones that cannot ride everything.
  • charge phone each night
