My wife's birthday is on Dec 25th and we will be heading to BWV for a week starting Dec 28th. I'd like to do some post bday shopping for her and am interested in finding a mickey necklace.

If you have any suggestions for where to shop, please let me know.

But more importantly, if you have any pictures of necklaces you've purchased at WDW over the last couple years, please post them and let me know where you purchased them.

Thanks for your help.

For some really fun costume jewelry check out disney couture . I know that disneys Contemporary resort as well as the POLY have great jewelry stores for items that are 14kt gold and diamonds and pearls.

Thanks. I thought the resort shops might have more variety than the shops at Downtown Disney or the parks. I'll check them out.

Anyone have any pictures to show?

My DH got me this necklace in one of the countries in Epcot 2 years ago. I wear it at least once a week.

I don't have anything myself but I can give suggestions. If you are looking for something specifically Mickey shaped, you'll not need to look far. You can walk in pretty much any gift shop and find something. World of Disney at DTD has an area for jewelery.

If you want something special though, I would suggest a pearl necklace either from Japan or Pearl Factory at DTD. It would be something nice to do together. You can take her there and she can pick an oyster from the tank. Inside is a pearl you can have put into a pendant or a ring setting. Or get two pearls and make earrings. The pearl itself runs about $17. Settings range from cheap to hundreds of dollars.

If you do it in Japan, they make a big ceremony out of it. They open it in front of you and measure it, play a little drum. Draws a big crowd. It's fun. They however do not have a wide range of selections for jewelry settings to pick from.

The Pearl Factory at DTD really don't make a show out of opening the pearl. You pick one, they open it, they tell you how big it is, done. However, they have wider range of settings and they are of a higher quality then the ones you tend to find in Japan. You can get 14K gold at DTD.

I would suggest getting her either one of the 2 bracelets mentioned in title and then purchasing a charm or two at while in disneyworld.
I have a pandora and each holiday / special day, I ask my husband and kids to get me a charm. It's a wonderful momento.

Bracelet itself is silver, costs under $50 and charms can cost anywhere from $20 to over $100, depending on the material.
On our recent trip, I purchased 2 charms, each cost $23 at the Grand Floridian gift shop. One is cinderallas carriage and the other has disney heads. Don't have pictures but I am sure you can find it on line somewhere.

Here is my favorite necklace that I purchased at Disney World. Actually...I purchased 2 because the first one lost a stone after a few months of wearing.

Also, you might try QVC. My other 2 favorite Disney neclaces came from there. Here they are:

In Germany (at Epcot) they have a crystal shop that carrys alot of Disney Jewelry. I love it and I did get a pair of Mickey Head Earings that I wear alot. I was a cross country meet and went to take my earings off before the start of the race and found I'd lost one on the Walk-Thru. I am getting another good quality pair next October when I go but my parents got me a cheap pair at like walmart? to get me thru since I am a huge disney fan :)

Kohl's sells sterling Mickey Heads with crystals now. They might have gold filled also. Look on the racks where they have the sterling earrings and necklaces on cards.

I have a 14kt gold Mickey Head charm. It's from WDW, but I don't know how old it is. It's the outline of Mickey's head and I had a ring added so if hangs from the chain at different angles.

There's a single case of really nice jewelry in MouseGears, in EPCOT. I saw two beautiful rings in the $400. range.

Search disney jewelry on www.qvc.com. They had a show of tons of really pretty gold and silver Disney jewelry. Searching it on the site right now, I don't see as much but there is some. If you are a D23 member, the Disney Store has a really cool Swarovski Disney Charm bracelet. If you are not a member, you could always give her that membership, too! We enjoy that as well...

I have a beautiful Mickey pearl necklace. We got it at WOD in the 'more expensive' jewelry section about 2 years ago. Not too big or tacky. I wear it a lot. I will try to post a picture. If I remember correctly it was in the $70-$80 range.
