You know the one I mean...that shot that you just can't believe you got, or that turned out so much better than you could have ever believed!

(BTW...I'm a relative newbie to this particular board, having just started catching the shutter bug. :teeth: I will freely admit that I have spent way too much time on here admiring the talent on display, and thought I'd start a thread to let you all show off the absolute best of your best. :thumbsup2 )

In February I did something I haven't done since I was a kid and, believe me, that was some time ago. We could see a great deal of smoke from my house and I decided to fire chase. What I came across was the largest and most intense fire I've ever seen. An enormous box factory was ablaze and I spent nearly 2 hours taking photos. This one was my favorite because it has two people sitting on top of a large mound of gravel staring into the blaze. It sort of looks like they're on the rim of a volcano! :rotfl:

The good news ... despite the factory being a total loss, there were no injuries to anyone. :thumbsup2

Wow--that's some fire. Must have been scary.

I've posted both of these before, but they are the first ones that came to mind. Also I haven't uploaded much lately, so I don't have anything new to post. ;)

Anyway, this one of my younger dd kind of fits into the category of "turned out so much better than you could have ever believed." She was playing with a Buzz Lightyear bubble machine and I noticed how great the light was, grabbed my camera and managed to snap off a few shots before she got bored and moved on to something else. Now that I look at it again though I think I made that frame too wide. :rotfl2: I'm never satisfied.

This is one of my favorites because the subject has been photographed so many times so beautifully, and I was pretty happy with the way I managed to capture it.

I would say this one at the moment- I'm proud because my daughter is showing such an interest in photography. ;)

That's awesome Jeff... she's giving you the look big time though.

This is Max and I just love the look that he is giving my better half who was saying his name.... He's got the "who me?" thing going on.

My guys - my nephews - in one of the few rare brotherly love moments:

These are two I like the best out of the several hundred I've taken in the last few weeks since getting my first dSLR.

Here's my fondest picture.

I fell in love with these statues at the NGA in D.C.; my husband and I were on our honeymoon and practically alone in the museum, and we were both so attracted to the exhibit. I used my Pentax ME and some cheap-o film. Whenever I look at it I remember walking through the dim, empty corridors, holding hands with him, and I get a large, goof grin on my face.

I'm totally not a sappy person.

LOL- She is interested in being behind the camera like me- still not in actually having her picture taken. ;)

It would have to be one of these two - for two totally different reasons.

That's like asking which of your kids you like the best. I'd struggle to narrow it down to my dozen favorite shots. Picking one is hopeless.

I just like this one because I like to think he's just admiring how beautiful the water looks. ;)

not really my favorite or best but i like the way the sunlight went through the hummingbird's wing and hit the flowers below..obviously from last summer but one of the many i just went through and converted from raw...

This is one of mine. Ive never been any good with portraits - and I have 3 lovely children to practice on but Ive never achieved more than a handful of shots that Ive been that happy with.

One night I was just mucking about with the eldest two - didnt expect anything great but I really liked this one - it sums them up perfectly! They are really close (although they have their moments!) and i think this shot captures that.
