Show Me The Bling!!

Not my picture but one I found on the internet - this is what the TOT 13k medal looks like. Sorry I don't have a picture of it on hand.

But Tricia, in the picture, the medal is "on hand" ;)
(Looks like it will be a silly day!)

Tracy - Holy cow do you have some cool bling!

I did a turkey trot 10k last year where the bling for the top finishers was an actual turkey (frozen--not live...), and age group winners won pies and things like bags of stuffing....

Wow, I love everyone's medals:goodvibes I'll have to take a picture of mine and post later on....isn't it funny how a medal well earned can brighten your day.:woohoo:

Here is the Run To Victory 1/2 Medal NC from Dec 2007 - notice the signature by Richard Petty!

Love the Petty signature on the medal!!!

And that ING Miami one is SO COOL!! Might have to think about that race now :goodvibes:

Hey Scott: The Miami ING one was very cool!! I really liked the race and actually one of the half medals and one of the full medals actually had a real diamond!! The spinning is pretty cool and I like to take it out and sping it every so often!

I love the Richard Petty Sig also on the ribbon - that is pretty special!

OK here is MY big question.... what do you DO with all your bling? display it? stick it in a drawer? wear it when you do your grocery shopping?

I had my very first 1/2 marathon medal framed with my finish photo (it was a donald). since then I have a mickey, my disney 5k fun run, the steamtown marathon medal, and a harrisburg half marathon medal. they are currently hung in various places (some in my office -- some at home) and I am looking for a creative way to display or store them so I am curious to hear what you do.

I run a lot of smaller races (5ks etc.) where you dont get finishers medals(only if you win/place your age group and that aint happeneing for me anytime soon.. LOL!). for those I created a scrapbook of my race numbers with finish times etc. but what do you do with the medals??!!!

Oh Wendy....you need to post a picture of all your medals for Renee and others who haven't seen it!!

Wendy has her medals displayed on a curtain rod, and I have copied that idea - mine are hung on the wall between my family room and kitchen so that when I am on my TM I see them for motivation. I also purchased professional framing at the expo for some of the special ones...my first half (Donald 2006), the inaugural DL 1/2 (Aug 2006), my first full (Mickey 2007), Minnie 2007 and the inaugural ToT (Oct 2007). That's pricey though, and I've run out of space to display them! The curtain rod works much better!

I love seeing all the medals people have earned. Keep posting!!

Here's my medal from 5km Santa Dash in Liverpool last year. Didn't have one for the Run the Bridge 5mile despite them promising one!!! Oh well.

the curtain rod idea definitely sounds interesting! I would love to see it!! I have a wrought iron basket rack in the corner of my kitchen that has baskets hanging off of it. I have my mickey medal hanging from one of the rack "arms" for now. I read once that someone had an ornament tree that had their medals hanging from it on display in their guest bathroom. I thought that was cute. Instead of snooping in the medicine cabinet when you visit, you could try on a medal or two... LOL

I would love to see some pics, Pat!

I'm going to take a picture of mine in a few weeks - after I complete the OKC half and Minnie 15K.

ETA: Oh, wait, you've already done that. Geez. I had skipped the first page to reply to this...forgetting that you've already posted pics. Nevermind. :teeth:

Here is my curtain rod display - I see it when I am on the TM in my family room. The medals on the left are mine, a few on the right are DH, and one on the right is DS.

Pat Wow! Great idea and collection. Assuming I finish the Minnie, I will have one lonely medal--not enough for a curtain rod, for sure.

Maura, everyone starts with one! Now Wendy has a real collection, I am just a rookie in comparison.

wow! VERY cool idea!!!!

I actually have a curtain rod mounted on the wall in our spare bedroom (from when it was my DD's nursery--it used to hold her baby quilt) I may just have to comandeer it to display my medals!!
