Michele,
I was a little nervous about taking out my camera on a ride, especially splash mountain. I have a Canon Rebel XT, but I'm not in a position to replace it easily if I do something foolish with it. As a result, I often don't take it places I want to and I tend to miss out on some good shots. So every once in a while I figure "What the heck", and I bring it with me. And if something does happen to it, it will be a good excuse to upgrade to the 30D.
For these shots, I had my lens hood on with a protective UV filter. Then I had the whole thing in a 1 gallon ziploc bag with just the lens hood sticking out. I got some water drops on the front of the UV filter but that was it, everything else was nice and dry. Don't know if I would try it again, but I'm glad I got these shots.
I bought a Pentax Optio W10 waterproof camera to use in those situations where I was afraid to take my dSLR.
We got some great shots from the wave pool at TL, waves breaking over my kids just before we (and the camera) got washed away.
The kids get a lot of use out of it taking underwater pics in our pool at home whenever their friends come to visit.
