Should you FAX your room requests?

Hi

I have heard so many different views on this I just don't know what to do!

We have ensured that our room requests are noted on our reservation by calling CRO direct and checking that our requests have been noted direct on to the reservation. ::yes::

However, some websites (allearsnet for example) say that you should also send a fax 3 or 4 days before your trip to the resort's room assigner. However, other websites (Tour Guide Mike for example) say that all faxed requests will be ignored and are simply an inconvenience for the resort.

So does anyone know the 'official' advice, what's the norm for people to do when wanting to request specific rooms/buildings etc. ?

Thanks for your opinions!

Richard. :)

I do not know what the oficial word is however I can tell you that I have faxed a room request 7 different times the most recent and I have always gotten what i requested......However my room has never been ready before 4ish. I always begin the request with "just a few days and i will be at the most magical place on earth i was wondering if I might ask a big favor and have" then I list what I am looking for. Its never more than 3 different things usually location is number one with me, than non smoking which I find to usually happen anyway and then the floor. I think faxing is just a little extra thing that makes you know you did all you could to insure your best possible vacation.

meny to say the most recent being a few weeks ago...not only am I a bad speller but now losing my mind...lol to much time in the mouse house I guess

Just relax since it is in your reservation. They don't have to connect your fax with your reservation.

I am sure the room assigners has sent it all with the cute words and graphics. I don't think that does anymore than me asking nicely upon check in with any requests.

We had been told that WL no loger acepted faxes but I went ahead and faxed mine for this past December anyway. We got exactly what we asked for. I would give it a try if you know what you want.

Basically what happened was it has gotten out of hand. Some people started sending pages of fax with photos of their kids, and everything else they could think of to try and get their requests granted.

Used to be that it was a just a reminder of what people had already asked for on their CRO reservation.

Of course with the discussion of faxes on the Internet forums and guidebooks it turned into a comptetion of sorts as to who could send the most elaborate fax. I have heard some humorous stories from friends that work at the resorts about the faxes.

Bascially as stated make sure your request is on your reservation and send a short one if you want, but not sending one will not keep you from getting your request and sending one won't improve it.

Many end up not even read or in the file 13. They just don't have the staff or time to read so many and some that are so long.

Thanks for the replies! I'm still not sure what I will do, if I have time I will probably see about sending a fax and if not we will just keep our fingers crossed we get our requests ::yes::

Thanks

Richard. :)

Faxing doesn't work for me, ever. In my 60+ stays in WDW, I tried to fax my request in 2 times this past year and both times I got nothing I requested. I do much better in person. Everytime I've been upgraded to a nicer room, it's been a surprise and totally unexpected. So I gave up the faxing and will greet the CM with a smile and accept whatever clean non-smoking room they want to give me.

I have got to be honest, if I was a room assignor at Disney I would go insane!

There is no way you can make everyone happy with these requests.

Have to agree with Carol. The room assigners must go crazy. I've gone to WDW over 15 times and only twice did I have a request. Both times I asked at check in not in advance. One of those was on Easter weekend. If they can grant a request that weekend at check in I don't think the faxes are necessary. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but the most riduclous request I see (alot) is I need to be near the food court and bus stop (unless for medical reason). If you don't want to walk why are you vacationing at WDW?
