Should you call when waitlisted?

Hi, I am currently waitlisted for an early December trip for a studio in BCV or Boardwalk. We are currently reserved at Saratoga. Is there any reason to call every once on a while to nudge things along or is Disney's waitlist procedure efficient and its a waste of time. I'm sure Saratoga is great, but we really wanted to stay at BCV,BW,BLT,AK,WL in that order of preference.

Thanks for the advice.

DW calls at least once a week to check on our waitlist hopes. I encourage it just to keep the anxiety to a low level!

I have seen others post that they are positive they got the reservation because they called periodically versus just waiting for the waitlist to come through. I don't really know how the whole thing works. Or who would have higher priority, someone that has been on the waitlist the longest or someone that just calls in to check for availability. :scratchin

It sure would relieve some anxiety to just check on your waitlist as Dinzy Dad said in his post.

Since you have so many choices that you would prefer but can only have two waitlists, I would call periodically just to see if ANY of the others open up - not just the ones you are waitlisted on. I had my first waitlist - I requested 2 of the 3 Boardwalk booking categories, but I called about once a week to check on the 3rd category or Beach Club. Finally at the 30 day mark, while we were out of town for a long week-end, one of our waitlists came through automatically. So I guess it didn't do any good that I was calling, but had Beach Club opened up - we wouldn't have even been in the running for that on our waitlist. I waitlisted BW standard and garden/pool view because it is my understanding that the Boardwalk view is most sought after - so I was hoping that maybe somebody elses wait would come through for a Boardwalk view which would in turn free up one of the other views for me. We have never stayed there before - so it is all new to us

Although I haven't had to be waitlisted yet for DVC (new ownes and booked at my 11 month window), I would most definatley suggest calling.
Although new to DVC, not new to timeshares, own a 3 bedroom at Orange Lake in Orlando and a 3 bedroom at Waterside by Spinanker in HHI.
I can tell you that when I trade my OLCC (Orlando trader) and have an ongoing search, I usually get what I want by calling, NOT by the computer having me set up for an ongoing search. I have my search going for my specific requests but sometimes call a couple of times a day if it is during a holiday (usually Easter break).
So, yes, I would call.

I was waitlisted for our December trip and was callin almost everyday to check on it as well as some of the other views. I decided to give it up because it was making me crazy. I was pleasantly surprised when my new conformation letter came in the mail.

If you have more room classifications that you are interested in beyond the 2 that you are allowed on a waitlist it is certainly worth calling often, also if you are willing to take a chance on ending up with a split you can call to pick up a day at a time on either end of your vacation.

About 2 months ago, I decided to add a few nights to my stay....I decided to try for BWV, in a studio. I was able to get a preferred studio for Dec 11th and a standard studio for the 12th....waitlisted for a preferred on the 12th. Yesterday, I figured all hope was gone...I was going to have to move yet again. But, lo and behold, this morning I checked my reservations on the DVC site and my waitlist came through.
I usually called once a week, but decided not to do that this time around. And the waitlist came through.

I called exactly 7 months to the day of our planned December trip (in a few weeks) to try to reserve Bay Lake Towers - a 2BR standard view...and was waitlisted at 9:30am that day. I am still hoping for some Pixie Dust. I called Member Services just last week to see if ANY other 2BR are available for our week...and NADA...not even partial days. We have a 2BR at Saratoga already (our home resort) but I'd really like to stay someplace else. We'll see what happens.
