We currently have a WII but it seems to dying a slow death. My kids are 6, 10 & 11 and are very casual gamers. They probably play 4-5 hours a week max. DH & I are not at all tech savvy and rarely ever play. We have lots of WII games & remotes. Just wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade or if I should just buy another WII. Are whe wii games compatible with Wii U? Is WIi U hard to set up? I just bought 2 Disney Infinity starter sets, one for each system. I know only one person can play at a time on the Wii version.

If you are looking to get a console, I would definitely upgrade. I wouldn't replace "old" technology with the same old tech :)
From what I understand you can play Wii games on the Wii U.

We got Wii U for our kids last Xmas. Our original Wii was becoming increasingly wonky. I do not regret the purchase.

If you decide to upgrade, you should keep the DI Wii U version. My dd loves using the touch screen controller to build in the toybox.

We just bought a wii u last week. My husband refused to wait for Christmas. I would recommend it. It is back compatible, so everything can still be used from the wii, it is hd, and there are a bunch of new games coming out for it. I also wouldn't replace old with old, but they are only $100. We are casual gamers here too, nintendo works perfect for us.

If your old Wii console that's on its' final leg, I would say "yes" to the upgrade to Wii U -- especially, if you have a newer flat-panel HDTV, as this system (unlike the old Wiis) was specifically-made for today's TV sets and plugs-in with a simple HDMI cable.

Just remember, all of your old Wii gear (games, controller/nunchucks) will work fine with the new system, if you have favorite games from your old stash...

I'm so glad the Wii U is back compatible! Glad I popped into this thread.
