Should we try a signature restaurant?

I keep going back and forth on whether to try the yachtsman steakhouse this time.

Last time we did no signatures.

DD will be nearly 5 and is (usually!) good in restaurants. Menu appeals and i've made the adr for 5pm.

Hubby likes the look of the food pics i've shown him but then said but I could go to le cellier twice instead!

We are definitely 'northern' in liking a good deal and not into fancy meals - the other signatures don't appeal. We enjoyed the steak at le cellier and raglan rd last year. Offsite we like outback, tony romas etc.

Any views?

We really enjoy the Yachtsman Steakhouse, in fact it is perhaps my favourite of the signatures. I too like to know what I am eating and don't like lots of dressings and sauces. It can get quite busy at times.

The one thing I find with the signatures ( my opinion only) is the servers do not appear so happy when you don't order the wine. I have an allergy to alcohol so both me and DH don't touch it.

Go for it! We had a fab meal at there and are booked to go again in November. DD was 15 months first time and will be nearly 2 1/2 second time. We have an ADR for 6.30 this time.

Food is better than LeCellier and their onion pull apart rolls are to die for :goodvibes

Think we will, wont know if we don't try it.

Daugther has aslo seen the paint your white choc dessert and keeps mentioning it.

I'm not a wine drinker either - prefer food to alcohol!

I say go for it! All the signatures seem to have a steak on the menu if you cant find anything else you like. We had a fantastic meal at Artist Point last year (best food of the trip!), we also really enjoyed the California Grill, its quite noisy and from what I have read on here and from our experience I would say it was more family orientated than the other signatures, and the opportunity to watch the fireworks is a lovely bonus :goodvibes

Don't worry about drinking alcohol, we felt no pressure whatsoever :)

Exactly, you won't know til you try it.
We decided to try Cali grill after everyone raving about it and didn't enjoy it, hasn't put me off trying Yachtsman this August but I would never pay for them, only doing them because of free DDP.

We either drink or eat, don't enjoy both together.

We really enoyed our meal there last year. It is a really nice restaurant and the service was very good. I had the filet and it was really really good.

I have eaten at several signature restaurants and would put it as one of the best:thumbsup2

The creme brulee is fab too if you like sweet things:rotfl2:

We are trying Yachtsman for the first time this year and also Narcoossee's

I know this is a little of an older thread but I had to comment! :P

We did this last year twice but only because of the dining plan. I would say though, would do this without DDP.

The food was amazing. We did Le Cellier also, the steaks are second to none compared to Yachtsman. The food, service, setting. Everything is perfect. Maybe except the price ;) But one nice meal out isn't bad, it is holiday after all ;)

Thanks for letting me know you liked it.

We are definitely set on trying it - have been showing my husband pictures of the porterhouse which he is drooling over!

We have ate at the Yachtsmans twice now and it is definitely one of our favourite restaurants. The steaks are superb quality. As you enter the restaurant you can actually see the butcher cutting up the meat and we have always had excellent service. I am like you in that I don't feel comfortable if the restaurant is too posh, but the YS has a very relaxed casual atmosphere. The one downside was that although it was on the free DDP we ended up paying a very hefty tip as there were 6 of us and they automatically add 18% to the bill.
