8 out of our 10 allowed TS meals will be dinner buffets (character meals, H&V, Cape May, Boma). Do the servers at buffets get 18% tip on the DDP? I was thinking we would tip extra for our meals at CR and Teppanyaki, if we have wonderful service. But, is this necessary at the buffets?

I normally tip around 20%, for excellent service, at regular meals, but I generally tip 15%, sometimes a little less, at buffet restaurants.

I would only tip extra at a buffet if I was ordering adult beverages or if the server did something extraordinary.

The servers only get 15% on DP I believe. We always tipped extra last year...especially since we had free dining in the first place!!!

Incorrect. I just got back last week and every meal had 18% included.

If you research tip etiquette online just about every site you find dealing with buffets will indicate 10% is standard, unless you receive poor service. Here's one such link, but they all basically say the same thing...

The people here who are trying to say 18% isn't enough are just plain crazy!

Tnkrbelle565--said he believed the servers only got 15% and that he tipped extra last year.

The tip rate, for groups under 8, was 15% for 2005 and increased to 18% in 2006.

Someone posted a link to a tip guide somewhere that said buffet servers should get tipped the same as full service restaurants but any guide I've read has similar advice to article you linked to.

I agree 18% for a buffet is a good tip for a buffet and it would take something extraordinary for me to tip more. I always though 10-15% was a reasonable tip for a buffet and 15-20% for table service.

18% is more than adequate for semi-service. I won't be leaving more at any of em. We bumped up one full service server to 20% from the 15 it was last year. The rest got their 15%. The Buffets got 15%..
