Should we switch

We are currently booked at poly for deo30 through January 3. Should we switch to French quarter and save 2000$ or keep the convenance?

Both are great! I have stayed at both and have upcoming stays booked at both, too. If it’s your first trip, it’s hard to beat the poly. It has all the Disney magic and a lot of convenience! If it’s not your “once in a lifetime trip,” perhaps make the switch and bank the money. Book the poly another time when you could get a better deal. I do love both resorts :)

Keep Poly! I'm guessing you can afford it if you booked it. It is such a busy time, convenience will make your stay enjoyable. Enjoy your trip!

Definitely keep Poly. As the above poster stated, you're going to be at WDW during an extremely busy time.

The convenience of jumping on the monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom is invaluable.

For NYE, I say keep the Poly for the convenience. I will never stay anywhere that I have to rely solely on ground transportation over the new year holiday ever again. I say this from experience!

I agree with the convenience, but I'm willing to forego a certain level of convenience over a few days for $2,000. I guess it just depends on what your plans are and if you don't mind a little longer wait at times for a bus. You might also consider Caribbean Beach for a moderate on the skyliner if the price is comparable.

This is a tricky one! Tough decision.

I never stayed at either but don’t really see the pull everyone has towards Poly. I have always wanted to stay at POFQ so I’d prolly switch. We are also known for taking ubers often and they are very convenient

The Poly is going to be brand new as there is a massive redo/update going on throughout the resort. We have reservations from the 29th to the 2nd and can't wait. We will be with another couple that has never been to Disney. We think being on the monorail and being able to walk to MK will be the best at this crowded time. Also we have stayed on the 31 before and had reservations at CG. This allowed us to be on the roof for fireworks at midnight. Albeit a distance, you can see fireworks at midnight going off at all parks and some cities close to WDW. It was very cool although pricey. Thus we are doing this experience again.

It would be very convenient to watch NYE fireworks from the Poly beach and then just walk back to your room to go to sleep. Not sure if that is worth 2k. We have been to WDW on NYE twice. One time we saw the fireworks at Epcot on NYE and then it took us 2 hours to get back to our resort. It's generally like that on NYE. However that's not your whole trip.

Really depends on what you like. I really like POFQ. I would have no problem saving the money and staying there, but I can see the appeal of staying at Poly as well.

Poly will be incredible this year! If there's a great time to book it surely is 2021 between the resort refurbs and 50th Anni Enchantment theme going on over at MK. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

When I have a hard time deciding what to spend our trip money on, I'll compare alternatives using the amount in question. In this case you have $2k that could be spent differently if you stayed POFQ. That number could change if an offer is released. Think about how many are in your party and where else you can spend it. If it doesn't sound as exciting as staying at the Poly this New Years your choice has been made :wizard:

I'm biased because Poly is at the top of my bucket list and I also love French Quarter. But for those dates, I think you'll appreciate being right there at the Poly.

Oh gee 2000 is a lot, but being at the Poly will be great around the holidays. You will have the monorail to take to MK and other resorts near. You will have the convenience of the restaurants at the other resorts and cool Christmas decorations to check out.
This is a tough one🙄. I would always pick the Poly over POFQ, but 2000 is a lot. If you can swing it I would go with the Poly for sure.

Since it’s over the busiest week of the year, I would keep Poly. If you were going some random time in Feb I would switch.

Just thought about this - DH and I usually take long weekend trips (3 nights) and 2K would enable us to return in a month or two on a non busy weekend. I think I’d like 2 trips over one, and that’s coming from someone who’s always stayed deluxe
