Should we switch to a moderate?

We are currently booked for 8 days at Pop Century in Oct. The reason I am now questioning booking with a Value resort is due to a recent stay at another theme park hotel. The beds were quite hard, it was somewhat noisy and the room was hot. The AC would kick on for about 2 minutes and shut off right away and kept cycling that way all night. By the second morning we were all so crabby because of a lack of sleep. It did not really make for a fun day at the park that day.

Are the Moderates more comfortable for a good nights sleep then the Values? We chose the Value because we figured we just needed a place to sleep without the frills. However, if the Values are less comfortable and have thinner walls I am considering upgrading. Any thoughts?

I haven't stayed at a Value, but we were at CBR in April and never had a problem with noise, comfort, etc. We had previously been at WL and AKL and didn't find any difference in comfort between them and our room at CBR -- just the amount of space, and no balcony. Not sure if that means it would be the same at a Value... just that we were pleased with the Moderate.

I stayed at ASM, and thought it was way too noisy, too many children running around with no supervision. When I stayed at CBR, had no problems(except fot the long walk to the food court). AKL was great - highly recommend.

Just returned from a stay at POR. And, our AC did cycle on and off every few minutes. If that is going to bother you, I would not suggest staying there. We, personally, didn't care...we all could sleep through just about anything. :flower:

I stayed at ASMR 10 years ago. The beds were comfy; the pool was open 24/7 the cafeteria was Ok. However, once I stayed at BC and then bought at OKW; there was never a reason to stay at ASMR.

You may get what you pay for.

We stayed at Pop in 2004 and POR in 2005. We enjoyed our stay at Pop and didn't find the beds hard or the resort noisy at all. I liked POR for many reasons, but did notice that the food court at Pop was bigger and had more selection.

Over the years we stayed at All-Star Movies, Music, CBR when it was a value resort and Coronado Springs with a manager's special rate. We were happy, hey we were at WDW! But noisey AC bothered us, as we are light sleepers. We were visiting every 3 years, but a deluxe resort was not in the budget. To move up to a deluxe, we would have to come less often.

Anyway, we found DVC. The kitchenette, and central AC were heaven. We can now stay at deluxe resorts. The full kitchen in the one bedroom has helped us to relax and not be such park commandos. If you can travel at non-holiday times, you can really stretch your points. We only wish we had considered DVC sooner.
