My boyfriend and I are going to WDW May 2-9. We went last year last at the same time and stayed at POR. We loved it and I have stayed there on several other trips and always had a great time. We were really hoping to get a good deal like last year (will be cancelling Disney Visa soon!) I had stayed at ASM a few years ago and really didn't like it to much--to noisy but not b/c of young kids but college kids. I really don't want to spend the extra money on POR even though I love it but I am also scared that I will hate POP.

Please any advice would help!

This is all about personal preference. However, we went to eat at POP last week- at lunch time and it was fairly deserted. However I couldn't wait to get out of there. It is just too much- too garish, too noisy, too frenitic for me. Not at all what I wouod want on a vacation. THe college kids with me agreed- they much prefered AKL or fort wilderness (we were checking out places for our big trip in June).

We LOVED All Star Music and yet my husband and daughter just got back from Pop Century and didn't care for it at all. I'd stick with what you know and like.

we have never had a problem with noise at any of the value resorts. We love Pop..especially if the choice is between POR and POP. We don't like POR at all. Actually, we don't like any of the moderate resorts..so we stay deluxe or value.

We have stayed at values & deluxes & loved them both. We will be staying at POP again in May, which will make it our 3rd time there since Sept 2004. We Love it there! :teeth: To us, it just doesn't make sense to pay $40 more a night for a moderate, when we're hardly ever there anyways. We really love the atmosphere at the POP - it's really a lot of fun. The food court has a lot of great options & is another good way to save some money.

If you go & are concerned about noise - just make sure you request a room away from the pool areas. We have always stayed on the backside of the 50's section, on the top floor facing the lake. It is nice & quiet over there & you can catch Illuminations from right outside the rooms. POP has the best transportation around - they don't share busses with anyone - you just go straight to every park. We, too, had considered upgrading to a moderate for our trip in May, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the extra money. I'd rather spend it on character meals or souvenirs. HTH! :)

I totally agree with you arizonacolbys. I too was questioning myself on the same scenario. After reading your advice, I will stick with Pop.

We stayed at Pop last September and we loved it! It was very upbeat with all the vivid colors and decor. The food court was nice and the transportation was wonderful. But as far as changing your ressies, well I've changed ours 4 times first of all I started out with CSR, then switched to WL, then split the stay with WL and Poly, but wanted to add dining and my TA suggested POR. We will definately stay at Pop again but we want to try other resorts.

By the way by us changing to POR with the dining we are coming out $700 cheaper than if we had only our rooms at WL and Poly. I refuse to change again. :sad2:

Agree! We really didn't enjoy our stay at POP, we liked the All Stars better. However, we have stayed at POR and really loved it. IMO...you are apt to be disappointed. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

It's a matter of simple economics...if you can't afford to stay at the moderate, then don't. It's not worth overextending yourself! Typically, if you have over extended your bank account to go on vacation, you won't truly enjoy it because you're thinking more about the $$$ spent and less on the :) :) :) being had! Stay at the Pop. It's a new experience and c'mon, it's Disney...have a ball! ::MickeyMo

We've stayed at, and enjoyed, both. However, if I had a preference and my bank account allowed, I would choose POR. Pop has the same look and feel of the All-Stars (we have stayed there (ASM, ASMovies, too). If that's not what you're looking for, then steer clear.

For us it is all about economics. We have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts and the values and everthing in between. If we are going to be spend a lot of time at the hotel we choose an Epcot deluxe, if we're doing more commando style we always choose Pop now. Big difference between $50 AP rate at Pop and $250+ AP rate at the deluxe. It's a tough choice, take a chance you may love it. :firefight

We switched from POP to POR and here is why....

Smaller rooms at POP
NO ceiling fans at POP
Bad reviews of the beds being uncomfy at POP
Fridges at POR
NO sun coverage/shade at POP
Pool slide at POR
