Should we still go? **ETA**

I planned this trip to Disney in less than a week and have already booked our hotel rooms (I can cancel by Sat). We are supposed to leave on Monday...

This trip was planned for my mom, who has been slightly depressed lately, per the loss of my grandmother in July.

My mom called today and said she doesn't think she will go with us, because she is having lots of pain in her feet and legs (she has bone spurs in her feet and a pinched nerve in her back). I recommended getting the ECV to her and she refused the thought (maybe its a pride thing?) so she says she's not going...

I'm wondering if we should still go with 3 kiddos under the age of 4???

what are your thoughts?

Would it just be you with the 3 kido's or would DH or another adult be with you?

If so I say go for it (as long as your mother is good with it.)

I can't imagine the disappointment of not being able to go because grandma isn't feeling well.

Besides I might even be easier. Less people means less other peoples needs to take into account. My kids did best when it was just family. We didn't have to worry about what other people needed, just us and our kids.

I would hate to dissapoint the kids. I'd have the kids ask her and tell her how neat it will be to occassionally ride for a minute or two with her on the cart. Have them say, WE WANT YOU TO GO. (If you want her to GO.) Sometimes those suffering from depression start thinking that noone really wants them...and they isolate themselves...and become more depressed!

I don't blame her for not wanting to be on her feet. But if the kids can't convince her to go...she may REALLY NOT want to go.

Going is a matter of what you want for your kids. Be at peace with whatever you decied. If you go, take lots of pictures.

Dawn, I would go if only because of the kids. Why don't you tell your mom to go even if she only wants to stay around the room or resort? I know from experience with depression that a change of scenery can do worlds of good. The absolute worst thing she can do is stay home and look at the 4 walls.

I would say you should go. My family is leaving Wed and we have had a really bad month of luck. DH lost his job on the 5th prior to that we had $$ issues anyways. On Sunday DS was transferred to Childrens Hospital with a really bad case of pnemonia. We are still here but should be released tomorrow. I can imagine that you could use some pixie dust magic from wdw I know I could.

Well, let me explain... my little family of 5 was taking a week vacation next week....anyway

Dh & I noticed that my mom just seemed so sad and depressed lately...
It was Dh's idea to invite her along with us on vacation (which was originally to Colorado) Then DH got the bright idea for disney and I was ALL for that!!

My mom seemed just as excited to go... but I guess her pain is REALLY bad....
(she used to get cortisone shots for the pain before)

So if the pain is really bad..i don't want to push her..

It would have been nice to have at least one person per child...
that would have made the riding and waiting a little easier...

DH just told me...we will still go..even if she doesn't...er depending on the weather...lol

I told her she could stay for half day... and go back to the room at lunch time and maybe come back in the evening. if she wanted...

I told her that my grandmother would not want her moping around like this....
