Should we reserve now for May 2006, or wait and hope for AP discounts??

We are going in May 2006.

I have a PAP, and I really am hoping for AP discounts that time of year. Should i make all my reservations now at either rack or AAA rates, then switch to AP rates if they come out, or just wait a little while??

One problem is, we will probably get a room for a night, then possibly rent points for VWL from someone, but if we can get a room at an AP rate, that may be just as good or better, but we have to lock in our points use now if we are to use them so we dont risk them not having any rooms using points from dvc. I would have to let the person we are renting from know soon. Once i get them, i am locked in on that. Then we will probably stay at PO or somewhere hoping for an AP discount again the last 2 days.

Should i book now with cash, wait, and/or stay using dvc points or cash??

I am pretty sure that Disney has done away with the "wait-for-the AP-rate" program. They seem to only be doing the book 60 days in advance with one night's non-refundable deposit.

So if I were you (as a passholder and a DVC member) I would just plan on booking with your DVC. For the remainder of days that you don't have points, it may be more economical to either rent points for them or to stay at the Pop.

You never know what Disney will do and perhaps the AP program will be different next year. Either way, you can get your DVC booking in.

I'm in the same boat. We need 2 nights in May, 2 rooms (the weekend between DVC stays). I'm not sure if I should wait for Best Rate with the AP, or book offsite or at a value. The way I look at it, the value resorts are nice, and for as long as we'd be in the room, it would be fine. We've stayed at ASMu twice, rack rate, and enjoyed it.
