Should we just Uber our way through FL?

In a few weeks we will be flying into MCO, the. Going to to hotel, to Kennedy Space Center, back to hotel, to Port Canaveral for a 4 night Disney Cruise, and then from Port Canaveral to Universal. And then back to MCO. Renting a minivan for the week will be $500 plus gas and parking at the cruise ship terminal. Would you Uber it everywhere instead? I dont care if it’s a small amount more expensive we’re just not sure we want to worry about a rental and parking etc when we can just hop in an Uber. We are NYers so we are assuming Uber is that easy for these routes...is it?

IDK I'd price it out on the Uber app for what you want to do..... it sounds $$$ to do all that- why rent a minivan? those are the priciest vehicles usually- and if you have 6-7 people then you need the Uber for large groups which is pricier than the standard..... I would think a car rental is cheaper for your needs.

I agree -- price it out. You can check comparative fares on RideGuru.com. If you have more than 4 people or if you have sufficient luggage to need a minivan, you will need UberXL -- which might be the port rides, but not the trip to KSC.

I would tend not to rent a car for the cruise portion. You'd be paying the daily rental, plus parking, while the car just sits. That could still be cheaper if the weekly rate is less than a 2-3 day rental, but you'll have to factor in all costs.

I think you'd be able to Uber over to the port and back. I don't know about KSC, though. The KSC Visitor Center is off the causeway about halfway between Cocoa and Titusville, and nowhere near Cocoa Beach.

I'm not sure how Uber coverage would be there. Maybe someone who either drives for Uber there, or has used Uber at KSC can tell you.

I can see a driver being reluctant to take a trip from KSC to Orlando with an almost certain empty ride back. That's always an issue on long rides like that, and will also be an issue for Ubering to Port Canaveral. I would factor in a hefty tip both ways on both of those trips, as an inducement for the driver to accept the trip.
