Should we just skip Chef Mickey's?

We won't be going back. Other than location I found it to be a negative experience. I would go to CP and be inside the park :)

Chef Mickey's food has gotten absolutely disgusting. I really don't know how people can eat it. It used to be the place to go whenever we got company from out of town. It was always the best place to get a first kiss/hug from Mickey at the start of vacation. The food had always been quite good.

Definately not the case..skip it. Go for better food, you can find Mickey many other places. Don't pay that price for a meal and get cr*p food.

I totally agree!

Never been but I am willing to give everything a go and decide for myself. It is the first meal we will have at WDW. As we are staying offsite I have only chosen 4 restaurants, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Coral Reef and California Grill, 3 of those 4 get varied reviews.

But I haven't been to them so the experience will be new to me and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I have been.

I have pretty much seen most if not all of the WDW restaurants cycle through the bad review period.

If YOU have enjoyed it in the past then I wouldn't give up on it. YOU may still enjoy it.

Chef Mickey's is one of our favorites for breakfast. We like the food, have had great service, love the atmosphere, and have had very good character interaction. We can't wait to go back this year! You can get a 7:00 or 7:30 ADR - I don't know how hard it will be for you to get it. Last year we got a 7:30 ADR for the first week of Sept & didn't call to get it until mid-July. This year we called exactly 180 days before our trip & got one for 7:30. It's definitely worth a try (your kids should love it!) & afterwards you can just hop on the monorail to MK for rope drop.

We ate breakfast there a few weeks ago, and enjoyed it. The character interaction was great, they stayed at the tables until everyone was done with pictures.

The food is what you would expect from a breakfast buffet. Good, but not great.

Well, we are trying to find a place for our first morning and if we're in the park the kids will miss the whole opening thingy. We thought if we could get a 7:00 or 7:30 ADR, we could be there at 9 for opening.. How hard is it to get to a 7/7:30 ADR?

Actually, I thought the whole opening thingys were pretty lame. It was hard for the kids to see unless you were holding them or had them up on your shoulders. If you are at a character breakfast, you'll have more interaction with the characters and be right there with them, not in millions of people trying to get a glipse of them.

We did CM for dinner and had a great time. We loved the food and character interaction. If I would of skipped every place that got a bad review on here, where would I have ate??? I was especially neverous about Hollywood and Vine and it ended up being a fav! Enjoy your trip :)

We just got back from Disney on Sunday. We went to Chef Mickey's for dinner on Saturday night. I was really nervous about the food prior to going because everyone seems to bash CM's dinner buffet on the DIS. We all thought that the food was really good. Especially the ribs, which fell off of the bone they were so tender, the prime rib (also very tender), and the mashed potatoes. I can't say anything about the dessert though because we ate chocolate birthday cake instead (also very good :thumbsup2 )

We also had dinner at Crystal Palace, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Biergarten, and Raglan Road, and breakfast at Akershus. We thought everything was quite good. Everyone's tastes are different. You just have to try it for yourself. IMO CM's was great! ::yes::

Breakfast is typical buffet breakfast. We have been several times and its varied between average to excellent, but there are a bunch of factors. How fresh is the food at the buffet? How interactive have the characters been? How have the kids behaved?

We tried dinner at CM once and it was disgusting! I would never go for dinner.

Also, we HATE Crystal Palace. We have been for breakfast twice and dinner twice and all four times we have walked away thinking how terrible it was and why so many people like it. But to each their own.

We have been to CM twice - once for dinner and once for breakfast. Breakfast is definitely better than dinner! We would go to breakfast again there but would probably skip dinner. Another option for a Mickey Meal is Tusker House - the food and characters were great there!

We love Chef Mickey's!!! We always start our first night when we arrive at WDW at CM to get geared up for the magic. We really like the dinner and enjoy all the craziness of the kids, families, characters, and napkin twirling every 30 minutes! It's all part of the fun of WDW. We liked the breakfast, but we are not big breakfast eaters, so we prefer the dinner. The food is always good, not fancy, but good. Overall, it is our favorite restuarant to start our vacation!:earsboy:
