Should we just skip Chef Mickey's?

I am really getting turned off to Chef Mickey's. It hasn't gotten some BAD reviews on here and I am thinking about skipping it for our upcoming trip. We were going to try to get an early ADR for breakfast and then hit MK before rope drop. Is this possible? Or should we just skip it?

we loved it! but of course it's all a matter of opinion!! in fact if you ask my son who is now 6 but was 5 when we were there what his favorite meal was we will tell you in a split second that chef mickeys was his favorite!

Awww I'm almost 21 and when my girlfriends and I went to Chef Mickey we thought it was a hoot! Not too many veggie options for me, but the kids mac& cheese was delish, LOL!

We always like Chef Mickey's--and have always preferred the breakfast over the dinner.

We always love breakfast at Chef Mickey's! Just went in April and had a fantastic time. There is a huge selection of food with something for everyone, but you are really just going for the atmosphere and fun!

My son loves Chef Mickey's. His only request for this trip was to do both breakfast and dinner. So we are doing breakfast our second morning and dinner at the end of our trip.

Why don't you try CP for breakfast? Gets you into the MK before the masses.

Well, we are trying to find a place for our first morning and if we're in the park the kids will miss the whole opening thingy. We thought if we could get a 7:00 or 7:30 ADR, we could be there at 9 for opening.. How hard is it to get to a 7/7:30 ADR?

DO NOT skip CM!!!! Especially for breakfast. CM is awesome for breakfast! The food is always good and fresh and the character time is amazing! And then CR is just a quick walk or mono ride away from MK!

Food just okay, but the character intervention was horrible last week.
They all were very rushed at each table and we didn't have autograph books for them to sign this time, just took photos.

The characters must have skipped us over about three times...until a manager came around and asked which ones we had not yet seen....overall, it took much longer than it should have.

We have been to CM at least 5 times in the past and was expecting more. They usually have the parade where the kids can join in. This time, they had the music, but the kids stayed at the tables waving their napkins.

Disappointed in this last visit.

If you've never done Chef Mickey's, I'd say it's a must do....especially with kids ::yes::. We have done a Chef Mickey breakfast and dinner every trip for the last 6 years, and we haven't had a bad experience yet :goodvibes.

Chef Mickeys was my absolute favorite when I was a little kid in the 80's. There were also not many character meal options to choose from back then. If you are going strictly for character interactions and you are staying at the Contemporary anyways, I would say to go for it. But I wouldn't make a special trip there. The food is mediocre, it's not the cleanest buffet (lots of little kids sticking their fingers in it-yuck!), and there are plenty of other great character buffets. If you want a great Mickey buffet, you might consider: Tusker House at DAK or Cape May at the BC.

It is fun and the breakfast is one of the best.

We didn't eat at CM until 2 years ago, and we wish we knew about it sooner. My kids LOVE it.

I always say you on here you have to take bad reviews with a grain of salt because your only reading the reviews of Disboards members and are not getting the opinion of other guests who went there because they might not post on here, no matter if they thought it was great or if it was bad.

For the past 5 times I have been, the food has been mediocre to really bad. Why do I keep going? I have a 5 year old silly!!:lmao: :lmao:

We lucked out and got a Chef Mickey's ADR the morning of while we were staying at the GF. We really enjoyed it! They take your picture at the beginning and give you the option to view it and buy it. We purchased the pictures because it was a great shot of us as a family :) It is a buffet breakfast and the bar pretty much had alot of choices for everyone. There was cereal, doughnuts, rice krispies, eggs, bacon, fruit, Mickey waffles, which was my all time fav of a breakfast choice while at Disney. I really loved the Minnie's Breakfast Pizza. It had eggs and bacon but was a slice of pizza. My ds loved the Mickey pizza with pb & j. We had a great server and the character interaction was AWESOME!!! Donald Duck was there and my son loved that. One of his fav disney characters. They did the napkin twirl and the charactes parade around the tables. It truly was a nice experience and I think a must for your trip if you haven't yet done it. I say keep the reservation. If I would have listened to negatives about different places @ Disney, I would have missed out on alot of COOL PLACES. GO and try it for yourself:thumbsup2

OK - I HATE buffet restaurants usually, but I do LOVE Chef Mickey's!! I guess I just don't think about the food that much there - even though it's just fine!!!...that's not the point to our family. We find good food there as we dance with Mickey & friends!! The dessert bar is such a treat to DS that the rest of dinner wouldn't matter anyway!! Food snobs need to relax on this one...Chef Mickey's isn't about exquisite culinary finds...CM's about having fun!!!!!!!!

Chef Mickey's food has gotten absolutely disgusting. I really don't know how people can eat it. It used to be the place to go whenever we got company from out of town. It was always the best place to get a first kiss/hug from Mickey at the start of vacation. The food had always been quite good.

Definately not the case..skip it. Go for better food, you can find Mickey many other places. Don't pay that price for a meal and get cr*p food.

We ate Breakfast there on Easter and thought it was great! Kids loved it!
