We live in suburban Chicago and are going to WDW in June. :goodvibes I am interested in DVC. What kind of "perks" would we receive at the Woodfield DVC center vs doing the tour while we are at WDW? We aren't going to the parks every day so it wouldn't cut into our park touring if we did it in June. Help!

TIA!

I cant answer the perks question ,but, I would say since you have plenty of time at WDW, take the tour there. That way you can walk through model rooms at SSR and more importantly you can visit any of the DVC resorts you may be interested in staying at or making your home resort once you buy in.

I would do the tour at Woodfield before you go. There's no pressure to buy right then, but it will give you information before your trip that you can mull over and not feel so overwhelmed while you're on WDW trip mode.

I agree with maburke, it can't hurt to visit at Woodfield and if your really interested tour at Disney. I live in Suburban Chicago too and have visited the Woodfield location several times, they are very nice and do not pressure you into buying at all.

Hi there - I work in Schaumburg, and it's easy for me to get in and out of Woodfield. I was just at Disney before I purchased in Orlando. Before my trip, I went through the song and dance at the Woodfield store. (I had, a couple of years ago, also seen the spiel in Orlando. Wasn't quite ready at the time.)

Having gone through both, I was very impressed with Woodfield and would highly recommend it. Also, if you haven't gone through it before you'll be assigned a "Guide". This will be your salesperson and ongoing contact if there are any issues. I put some thought into if I wanted someone here, or in Florida. I decided that having a local guide would work better for me personally.

I've been very impressed with my guide here at Woodfield. I asked a TON of questions, and they were very responsive with issues/questions/concerns all throughout the process. We are about to close on BLT...just wanting for the title to close. (woo-hoo!)

If you need a contact, I'd highly recommend Derek Deboer at the Woodfield shop. If you contact him, let him know I sent you! He'll take good care of you.

Cheers! And good luck on your decision! It made sense for us, and we're thrilled. (Oh, and the Bay Lake models at the Woodfield store are really beautiful.)

Why not do both? There's no rule that says you can't. A little pre-work on your part will only help inform your decision, and since you're right there anyway, it's not hard to get in and out fairly quickly. The Doorway store only has the BLT model to tour. You could do the presentation there, and get any initial questions answered while there. Then you can think it all through and see if you have additional questions that you need answered before seeing other models while at WDW. There you could see AKV and the "dollhouse" for the THV's, as well as any SSR rooms that might available as well. And if you're really adventurous head over to the Boardwalk and you can see a BWV model room down on the boardwalk-level near JellyRolls.

At the end of the tour at WDW you'll also get a free ice cream sundae :cool1: (I love ice cream, even moreso if it's free LOL), and they may even give you some special fastpasses or some other "perk of the day" (in the past others have reported receiving gift cards, and other stuff). I'm not sure if you'd get anything like that at Woodfield. When I was last at Woodfield for a pop-in visit to tour the model back when it was still AKV before being changed out for BLT I did receive a few trinkets (ice scraper, luggage tags, duffel bag, etc - all Doorway to Dreams branded vs DVC), but that was 8 months ago and I was already a member just wanting that quick Disney fix while "in the neighborhood"...I'm not sure what they'll give you now, if anything.

We went to Doorway a few weeks ago to check out the BLT models and it was very low (if not no) pressure. Got lots of reading materials to look thru, although I think I have a pretty good understanding of DVC from my time here on DIS and other research.

DS (5) did get a DVC coloring book, and although he didn't go into the "kids" area he was fine just sitting down and coloring while we spoke to our guide.

Don't think you have anything to lose, and since the new promotions came out on April 1 you won't be under any pressure to "buy today" to get these incentives (we visited March 22 and the then "current" incentives were expiring in a week).

If nothing else, you get a little Disney "fix" and it will get you even more excited about your upcoming trip and potential purchase.

Woodfield is so cool and they give you lots of goodies!! Also, if you do go there ask for Diane Sizek. She is a doll! She helped me when I added on AKV last year. She was also able to help me with some issues that I could not get an answer from member services on. It is nice to know they are right here in Chicago and you can pop in anytime to get the Disney Magic feeling!!!
