Should we go in August again?

Hi, last August was our first time in Disney. We had a great time but we were there during Hurricane Fay It rained/poured our entire trip! I want to go again this august #1 because the rates r cheap #2 August works good for me taking off of work #3 I hear free dining is going to be in August again! I'm just really scared that we r going to get rained on again.

What do u all think? Is august a good time to go? What r the chances of lightening striking twice and us being in disney during a hurricane again? Thanks

Well, I hope that August will be a good time of year to go this year. That's when we are going! I had googled the history of tropical storms and hurricaines that have hit Orlando in the past and it's actually a pretty rare occurance it seems.

Interesting information. It quells my nerves a bit about our August visit this year, but it does not include information for the last 5-7 years.

I know. But the fact that Fay hit last year is what kind of reassures me a bit. I'm sure we'll get some typical showers, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

This will be our 4th visit in August. Never had a problem with the weather other than hot at times. We always go the first week in August.

I was there last year too during ST Faye and I swore I would NEVER go again in August. Well, I couldn't pass up the 40% off flyer-I'll be there from 8/24-9/1--let's hope for the best!!!!

I was also down there for Tropical Storm Fay. We only hit the last couple of days of the rain. We are booked again for the same week this year! could not pass up the cheap flights, plus with DH as a teacher we are limited.

We went the same week of August 2 years in a row..... in 2007, we didn't get a drop of rain-honestly-not one single drop! We were there for 7 nights/8 days.... our town car driver said that Orlando was having a heat wave (didn't think it was possible to have a heat wave in FL! LOL!) It was hotter than Hades... we swam in the pool every day....

Our luck was not the same last year.... the last 5 days of our 7 day trip was marred by Tropical Storm Fay.... we paid $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to stay at the Beach Club for the pool and it was either too cold most of the time (yes, in AUGUST! lol!) or it was shut down due to the thunder/lightning.....

I swore I'd never go in August again... but here we are... vexing over August again this year

Every August is different-you never know what you'll get-we just made do with the weather and didn't let it stop us.... we were soaked to the bone but still had fun.

We were there during Fay also. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to go back during the same time in the future. Yeah, it rained and we got soaked more than once, but I thought it was such a great time to go. We didn't find the parks too crowded, were able to get the ADR's we wanted and really just had a great time. We don't plan to go back to WDW for a few years, but when we do, it will probably be in August again. If that's the time that works for you, then go for it! You've done it once and all ready know what could possibly happen.

We were there last August during Fay also. We said we would never go back in August again, although our previous trips in August were practically rain free. That was awful last year, but we still had fun. So we were going to go in June, but now with the free dining, I couldn't resist. We'll be at Pop 8/18 to 8/23.

i too am in the same boat. we were there in aug last year during faye and swore never to do it again. i am currently booked for november with a code but ds5 is very set against missing school ( cuckoo kid i know) so i am thinking about changing to aug for free dining. i was also there in 95 for ts jerry. so maybe after two tropical storms i will get a year with good weather (relatively speaking). lol
