Hey guys! I need some advice. This is where we are going to be eating...

May 3- Ohanas, that is always a must on the first night
May 4- Sci Fi Lunch (Tim loves it there) 50s PTC dinner(first time there)
May 5- Biergarten Lunch Tutto dinner
May 6- Jiko
May 7- Cali grille anniversary dinner
May 8- Chef mickey's breakfast Coral Reef dinner
May 9- Le Cellier
May 10- Yachtsman Steak house
May 11- Kona

The reason why I'm thinking going deluxe is because we have a couple of signature dining restaurants and are eating at 2 restaurants a couple days.

What do you think? Can you refresh my memory of what it is exactly you get in the Deluxe.

Would you get it or just pat out of pocket for some meals.

By my count, that's 14 credits you've booked, assuming 7 nights, so you'd still have 7 credits to play with on DxDP, or 7 credits you'd have to pay OOP in Basic.

DxDP would also be 1 extra snack per day and the resort mug, plus appetizers are included.

In either case, you can assume 7 CS meals to round out the credits on either plan -- so it's DxDP price vs. 7 TS credits OOP.

Since the price difference is $32/day ($72 vs $40), if you're averaging $32/"credit" for the OOP cost, the DxDP is better because it includes appetizers, 1 snack/day, and the mug over Basic. If you've averaging less than $32, then you have to ask what the snack, appetizer, and mug are worth to you. (If we depreciate the mug over 7 days, it's about $2/day, the extra snack is, say $3/day, so that drops "break even" to $27/"credit", plus you get appetizers at your 7 non-buffet stops.)

I'd say go for the DxDDP...you get 3 credits and 2 snacks/person/day, as well as 1 refillable mug per person. Based off of what you have planned, you would probably be better of with the Dx rather than the standard then going OOP for additional meals. You might be able to toss in a few more, or just use the credits for CS resturants as well (DW & I think it's a bit wasteful though). Hope you have a great trip!

We like using the Dx because you still get the apps with the Dx plan where as w/ the standard you don't. At the Signature resturants, it just feels more complete to get the whole experience, especially at places like Jiko.

Ok so with the 3 points per day I can use them for CS meals too. I'm going 9 nights so that would be 27 points per person. Right now with what I have booked I have 15 so that would leave me with 12 extra points. I could use them for CS meals and some more breakfasts.

Would I really be saving money getting the deluxe? What if I used the DP for our 2 ts..that would leave me with 3 extra meals...and 6 meals to pay oop.

I just don't know if we can eat that much food LOL. Is it really a lot.

I'm just trying to find the best cost effective way to go at it.

The best way for "cost effective" is to do the math -- it's an extra $32/pp/day for DxDP over Basic. Are you going to get $32/pp/day value for it?

"Value" is as much convenience as it is cost, too. Sometimes it's nice just knowing that everything (minus the tip!) is pre-paid.

For you to add Deluxe Dining it will cost you 1295.82 [($71.99 x 9 nights) x 2 people].

What I did to help me make my decision is that I looked at the menus and what we would realistically order at our table service meals. I added it all up in excel then added 6.5% meal tax. It cost us less by using DxDP. I still have 5 meal credits per person, 56 snack credits & 4 mugs left to use!

*ETA* Here's a pic of my spreadsheet I used.

Ok so I just did the math...

The whole plan for the 2 of us would be $1295.82
basic would be $719.81

Ok so with the basic I have 9 TS credits.. I would be using 6 with the 3 signature dining restaurants. So I will have 3 TS left over. Now I went to allears and added up what our meals would cost..I took the most expensive 3 and would use them for our DP.

So OOP we would be paying for 6 TS meals and that total with tax is and extra 322.36 add that with the 719.81 I get 1042.17.

I think we are eating a lot as is and we still have snacks and CS to use. We don't get appetizers all the time, I did add in a couple though for OOP costs. Resort mugs we can just buy new ones no big deal so we would be saving $253.75.

I really don't think we will eat all the food included in the Deluxe.. I mean I can barely finish my entrees lol and that is without having an appetizer.

So we should just get the basic right?

We will be at Sci for lunch on the 4th too...It really is a small world.

I am VERY impressed with this :)

Are you lol! what time you going? If you see me say hi!

I know that spread sheet is awesome!

I will be there at 12.10 pm! Myself, DH, my Dad, then our little ones DS 8, DD 5 and DS 3......see you then!

Oh cool! Our ressie is at 11 so we will probably still be there or heading out as your going in.

So we should just get the basic right?

You answered your own question, I think. :)

Just remember to factor in the cost of any other meals/snacks you'll be getting that aren't covered by the DDP but are covered by the DxDP.
