Should we get park hopper tickets?

I always get the Park Hopper. Even with the current 2:00pm rule I enjoyed it and used in when I stayed in January.
I would rather pay the extra than to be in the same park for the full day. Remember you then have the option of
the other 3 parks. We went to MK twice during our stay. One day we went to EPCOT after another day HS. It isn't
as convenient as I used to be but it does give you options.

So I ultimately decided on something that I hadn't really thought of when I made this post.

We decided to buy one park per day tickets, but we bought them for 6 days instead of 5. Our new schedule is below. I don't think the extra hours for the week we're going have been released just yet but assuming they stick with the usual schedule, we decided to just forgo the Epcot extra hours. Wednesday will be our resort/rest day but I made reservations for MK that day so we could go to the extra hours, if we all felt up to it. I also decided I wanted to put HS earlier in the week because my son is VERY into Star Wars and if we didn't get ROR on our first try, then I wanted another shot at it later even if it meant moving days around. We will definitely be trying to get ILL for ROR because there is no way my son would wait in the standby line.

Sunday - MK
Monday - HS
Tuesday - AK
Wednesday - Rest Day / Extra Hours at MK
Thursday - Epcot
Friday - MK

My son is an early riser so we may be able to rope drop, I'm just not counting on it! Thank you for all the input!
If you wake up Wednesday and decide not to go to a park, but still want to do SOMETHING, you might want to check out Disney Springs. We did the balloon ride there, and splurged on the AquaCar(!).
There may be a coupon for the balloon ride available through Groupon.

We went on the AquaCar at the Boathouse at Disney Springs in January. It is a little pricey but very enjoyable.

We just returned a few days ago. We’ve travelled both with and without PH.

This trip I cancelled our PH in lieu of purchasing Genie+ 3 days.

I asked my daughter towards the end of the trip if she missed PH and she said not at all and I didn’t either,

I still recommend going without PH’s and adding part way if you want them. There is no difference in price to add now or later.

I think this is a great plan!!

You mention your son is an early riser but, another option you may wish to consider is riding RotR at park close…if it’s running. We tried this twice last week. Once the ride was down but the second time we were able to ride.

something to keep in mind for riding at park close is that attraction times are all inflated. The night we rode the standby wait at 8:55 was 80 mins and we were lined up almost to the tunnel. The line hardly stopped moving and we were off the ride in 40 mins.

I'm so happy to hear you finally got to take your Disney vacation!

That's interesting you swapped PH for Genie+. I was already feeling like adding Genie+ to PH probably wasn't worth the extra cost, but I didn't consider switching the two altogether.

I'll have to think about that!

I love having park hoppers. I just don’t like the idea of being tied down to one park a day and we like to take midday breaks so it makes park hopping easier. I think it’s worth it personally
