Should we get a Wii system now or wait another year?

My dd is 6 and we've had our wii for 2 years now, she had just turned 4 when we got it. She figured it out pretty quickly and enjoys playing, so I think the kids are old enough to enjoy it now. Plus this parent enjoys a game now and then too :) We haven't played much since spring but in the winter we do.

I gave my husband one last Christmas. But... we don't let our 4 year old play with it. No video games, yet with the exception of a few computer ones on PBS. As for us, I love it and would recommend it for adults. My husband has all the games except I have EA Active and I really enjoy it for days when I'm not swimming. We also have a board game one that we enjoy for relaxing nights.

I asked the same question last year. We finally gave up and bought one about 2 months ago and I'm kicking myself for not buying it last year! It really is a lot of fun, DS6 LOVES it, DS3 loves to WATCH, wants to play but really isn't ready yet... he tries. I also wanted no video games for the kids, but with the exercise they get I have no issues with the Wii. DS6 bounces all over the room while he's playing, makes me tired just watching him!! I'm sure you won't regret it at all.

Our DGS7 has been playing it for a couple of years and loves it. However, our DGD3 just watches. She loves to watch, though! Our DS13 loves it as well. Great invention and lots of choices for games. Wii fit is great.

My DS 5 was 3 when we got ours. There were very little games he could play and he would get frustrated. But when he turned 4, we could not stop him. We rented a lot of games to find ones he could play before we invested in them. Now he plays all the Lego games with no problems and actually tell me and husband how to play. I think your DD5 will love it! Your DS 3 will have fun trying for a little while. Good luck with your decision.

We were also very anti-video game in our house, after watching my nephew the "gamer" grow up with a DS attached to him at all times. BUT, after visiting a friend and playing some of the sports games on the Wii, we were hooked.

There are so many games that are so much more than the typical video games, which I hate. We really do enjoy golf, tennis, and bowling as a family. We got ours when my son was 5 and that seemed to be a good age - my younger niece came over and became frustrated pretty quickly.

Thanks for the replies.

I think Mrs Claus will be talking to Mr Claus about putting one on the delivery list. ;)

They have recently come down in price too :) We got one last year for Christmas and my 4 yr old loves to bowl... and play "turtle bike" which is Mario Kart using the turtle on the motorcycle LOL!

We got one when our daughters were 4 and 3 and from day one, everyone has loved it! I say go for it now!

My DD was 5 when we got ours and she loves it. We enjoy playing as a fmily, and she plays games like build a bear and disney princess on her own.

If you're in need of a family gift, I would get it. We got our Wii when they first came out, we love it! It is not the typical video game system at all. We recently got the Wii Fit Plus and that is soooo fun! All 6 of us can play it and enjoy it, my youngest is 3. :)
