I currently have ADRs for 50's PrimeTime. But, after showing DH photos of the restaurant, he said not way. So I would like to swith to SciFi or Rainforest Cafe. Does anyone know where I can find pics of Rainforest? Would you recommend Scifi or Rainforest over 50's PrimeTime?

IMHO I think you are better off with PrimeTime. Sci-Fi is great for atmosphere, but the food is just average (or below average) counter service with TS prices. Desert or drinks here is a great option.

We weren't pleased with Rainforest Cafe, either. After the horrendous waits, the food was just fair and the service worse. Reminded me of many visits to Hard Rock Cafe's and Planey Hollywood's across the country. Average chain table service food (like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc) with tourist trap prices.

Rainforest is just a chain restaurant - I'm sure their website will have pics. I don't care for it, personally, I think it's a big tourist trap and we have one here but if I had children and didn't live near one I might make a visit. The food is okay.

We enjoy both 50s PT and Sci Fi. The food is better at 50s PT but we have never really had a bad meal at Sci Fi, either. Their burgers and fries at lunch are decent and DH really enjoyed a shrimp pasta at dinner. I had the catfish which was tasteless. However, we love the themeing and find it unique therefore we'd return. Service has always been great. Food is nothing to write home about but the atmosphere is...

Really, the Rainforest cafe is as good as it get for atmosphere. They have HUGE fishtanks and the entire ceiling is a jungle or stars, and there are animitronic animals.

I was VERY dissapointed with Sci-Fi, mainly because they don't show movies. They play commercials from old movies and they're a little bit TOO cheesy. I think that place would be WAY cooler if they revamp it and turn it into a Star Wars resturaunt, where you can eat at either the Death Star deck or in the Wookie Forest. Anyone else think that's a better idea?

Rainforest has good atmosphere and surroundings but we didn't like it. never tried the prime time but we all loved the sci-fi

Food is better at PT, but the theming is great at SciFi. Rainforest is not a huge draw for us, as we've been at other locations and usually skip them when we are in Orlando.

Prime Time and Sci-Fi are our favorite restaurants ANYWHERE in Disney. Both are a MUST! :thumbsup2

DH and I prefer 50's PT and Rainforest Cafe to the food at Sci-Fi. It's just ok, but not great. However, DS (11) rates RFC as #1 and Sci-Fi as #2 (loves the cars and flicks). The 50's theme at 50's PT is lost on him. We will probably be going to all 3 again this year just to please everyone, and that is fine with me.

RFC is great on atmosphere, but you'd better really like atmosphere, because you're going to be looking at it for a loooong time while you wait for your food. LOL

DD(now 8) and I would choose Sci-Fi any day of the week. She loves the atmosphere and the cheesy clips and the food. Prime Time is fine if you're into the interaction - the food is fine, but it's 'comfort food' and nothing many of us don't have at home a lot anyway. Both Sci-Fi and Prime Time are perfectly fine on food, but nothing spectacular. Imho, it comes down to the theming you prefer.

One Prime Time option..... you can get a drink and/or dessert at the bar out by the waiting area. No dealing with the interaction if that's not your cup of tea, but it's a nice break and you get some of the atmosphere. Understand that the desserts are HUGE though, so don't order one each unless you're starving. :-)

Our family of 4 did the Sci-Fi for lunch in June. We had a lot of fun here. My kids really enjoyed their milkshakes! We sat in one of the cars, and my kids enjoyed the big screen also! My husband and I split a burger which was very good IMHO. I would go here again. Rainforest Cafe was good too, but the themeing at Sci Fi is great! I have never been to 50's Prime Time, so can't help you there! Good luck in deciding!!! :sunny:

What did he not like about the 50's Prime Time? The atmosphares are completely different but spot on for their themes. the food at the 50's Prime Time is better but the atmosphare at the Sci-Fi might be more his style. I would go with the Sci-Fi over the Rainforest.

We dine at Sci~fi every trip and really enjoy it! We always go for lunch (this trip we are trying dinner for the first time) and always have fun with good food! Rainforest is a chain so I would chose either Sci~fi or Prime Time!

I've done all 3 in the past, only returning to the 50's PT this trip. RFC is awesome for atmosphere but we also waited a lifetime for our food. Sci-Fi is cool to look at but the food is equal to counter service IMHO.

We went to Sci-Fi this past week for lunch and loved it! The theming of the restaurant is great. It was the quietest meal we had all week- everyone was watching the big screen. I'm sure that you'll enjoy whatever choice that you make.

I really thought they played old sci-fi movies too! What kind of old movie commercials do they show? How long will we have to be there before we see the same clip twice? What exactly do they show to keep us entertained? Or will the atmosphere and food be enough entertainment? We have ADR's already.

I'm not a big Cheese fan! :lmao:

We eat At Sci-Fi last week 10:00pm last minute call in from Fantasimic while sitting waiting for it to start.

It was great They had a girl cleaning the cars for driving without a DL it was so funny she was a sport and just going to town on the fenders.

I am curious too as to what your husband doesn't like about this restaurant? If it is the look, theming, atmosphere or food, these are all very different in each of the 3 restaurants you're deciding between.

For food I would say 50's PTC, RFC then Sci Fi
For theming Sci Fi, 50's PTC then RFC
For atmosphere RFC, Sci Fi, then 50's PTC (esp if you don't care for the interaction but as one poster said you can get the food at the bar as we did)

For look and sound RFC looks great but sounds annoying after a while (elephant sounds, gorrilla noises, bird chirping and VOLCANO being yelled out in various octaves throughout), Sci Fi is dark which can make it hard to see your food but has cool movie clips and cars to sit in and 50's PTC has some TV's at certain tables, although it may *look* like an old diner, everything is new and spotless.

We like all 3 but wouldn't give up 50's PTC ADR's for either Sci Fi or RFC.

The pic that we saw was a small clip from another site. I guess he is afraid that the restaurant will be "grimy" for lack of a better word. We feared that 50's would be that way. Since reading the things that you guys have posted, I feel confident that I made the right choice. I have recently suffered from food poisoning, and even though this is WDW we wouldn't want to take a chance. I guess I'm leaving the ADRs as is. Thanks guys!!!

We went to the Rainforest last time and while the atmosphere was cool it was really loud and the service was really slow we were in there for like two and a half hours. The kids were melting down due to the noise and starving too. We are probably going to Sci Fi this time.

Based solely on the photos we have made an ADR for the Sci-Fi at the end of August - I'm sure it'll be great.

David
