Hello all! We are going Nov 11-16 2016. It will be me and dh and our 2 nieces both 9yo. We are planning on spending one day at each park without park hoppers. The girls are not morning people (nor am I lol) so we will not be doing rd. DH and I have been a million times but this is only the 2nd trip for the girls. After seeing so many threads about heavy crowds, I am concerned about getting to do everything they want to at MK mainly. I was considering doing a Christmas party on our HWS day. We would get to HWS by 10am and leave in time to get to MK by 4. I don't even know how we would get there, do buses go from park to park? Does this seem like a good idea or should we just stick with the original plan? TIA!

I've never done a MVMCP, so can't speak to that. But did want to answer the question about park to park transportation. Yes, the buses do run between parks, so you can hop on a bus at HS and be taken to MK. Allow for an hour, though it probably won't take that long.

If you've never done it, I recommend any hard ticket event at least once. It'll have different lighting around mk, holiday themed background music, snow on main street, a christmas parade, christmas themed fireworks, holiday themed stage show (and dance party somewhere). including in price of ticket hot chocolate and cookies.. There is also some only at the party mechandise and snacks for additional fee.

It'll be something you remember even if you decide it's a once and done event.

I don't recommend the extra things like the desert party for your first time at MVMCP. they do take a lot of time away from the night and it's not that long of a night.

While I generally agree that every person should go at least once and then decide for themselves, from personal experience with 4 parties, all during the week and none after December 18, you CANNOT go expecting low lines for attractions. I have been when most rides were a walk on to 10 minute wait and I've been when it was 20-60 min, all night long for everything. MVMCP tends to be INSANELY crowded, so much so that it is hard to even walk.

We have been a few times before and are going again this year. IMO, it is an amazing opportunity to have a great time and enjoy the party and do a lot of rides with little wait. My only concern with your plan, is going from HS straight to MVMCP. Our kids are 14 and 9, and to truly get your money's worth at MVMCP, you need to be committed to staying close to the end. I imagine the kids and you as well will be tired out, cranky, and not really get your money's worth by trying to squeeze so much in that day and not taking a break. My advice would be that if you attend the partyty, try and find some down-time before the party, to recharge. At least, that's what we find to be helpful and keeps us going.

As far as opinions, you are going to get tons of varying opinions and you just have to decide what is best for you and your family. For us, we have had years where we go and others where we opt not to go. I will say, if you have never been, you should at least try it once.

Nov 11-16 crowds and parties shouldn't be *that* bad.

We have done one MVMCP and had fun but we prefer the MNSSHP, we've done it about 5 or 6 times now. We don't go for rides though, we enjoy doing the party stuff, seeing character we don't normally see, parades, stage shows ect. ect.

It seems the "cat is out of the bag" on reduced wait times.

I would honestly recommend biting the bullet, doing rope drop at MK and then around 1pm go back to the room and sleep for 2 hours then come back and close the park down on a non party night if you want to only do rides.

Theme'ing for the MVMCP doesn't really change, you're going to see it anyway. It's not like the Halloween party when the evening lights are all changed and the music ect. ect. All you really get is bubbles aka 'snow" on main street.

Then again, if you are trying to squeeze in an extra park day and don't have hoppers, the party might make sense there. Before we had AP's, we'd do that exact some thing. DHS or AK and then hit the party at 4.

It's a roll of the dice for rides, let us know how it turns out for you and good luck.

I think it really depends on how late you think your nieces can stay up that night. I finally took DS to MVMCP when he was 8 and he was exhausted by the time the fireworks started (and this is with resting all day and not getting to MK until 4 pm). If you are only interested in getting in more MK time and not really that interested in the party events, I would look at the park schedule for your week and consider getting park hoppers instead and maybe splitting up some of your EP or AK days. The hoppers would be a cheaper way of getting more MK time in.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I should have mentioned that DH and I had done the party twice before but the girls never have. I think we're going to do it but take deltadisney's advice and try to fit some down time in before the party so the girls aren't too exhausted. Thanks again I love these boards!

I think you should go for it! HS can be easily be done in a morning, and MVMCP was one of my favorite experiences I've ever had in the World. Plus a little extra time in MK is never a bad thing!
