Should we do Midieval Times?

We arrive in the DLR area at 3:30 ish on Monday Dec. 3rd. We were thinking about doing Midieval Times that night...however, trying to find reasonable transportation for 7 of us to travel 7 miles is crazy expensive. We can get tickets to MT for $43 and $34 for kids at MWR (military)..so we care debating if it is worth it...opinions?

We were also planning to go to Knotts on Sat 9th (free with toys for tots) and would need the same transportation..from our DLR neighbouring hotel to Knotts.

Since you all are a wealth of information and have way more experience than we do...we would love to hear your thoughts.

Medieval Times is kinda a money pit. They try to sell you all kind of souvenirs and expensive drinks you might be better off going to a nice restaurant in Downtown Disney. You will get way better food and no hassle of getting transportation to Medieval Times. There is a movie theatre right in Downtown Disney go see a nice movie. ;)

it kind of depends what you are into... I thought it was a good show but I do agree with trippen they do try to sell you alot.. I guess I liked it bc at the time I saw it I was really into the whole knights and castle thing

Thank you for the feedback...we ll keep that in mind. Any advice how we would get there...or Knotts? It is only 7 miles...but we have not found anything reasonable.

The show is great just don't buy all the junk they try to sell you.
I was looking around for a way to get there and not finding too much.
You could get a taxi, but could probaly rent a car for the day at about the same price as the taxi.

It's pretty good fun. Be sure to trash talk the other knights. Don't buy any of the junk they sell. The swords fall apart pretty quick as does just about everything else. There is also a pirate themed show just like the MT show nearby. It's worth a look.

Depending on how long you need the car for it would probably be better to rent. It all depends on where you're staying. Many of the DLR hotels have car rental offices on site so you could get a car for a couple of days and just do the MT and Knott's visits back to back since they're practically across the street from each other. The Buena Park area is very easy to get to since it's right up the 5 North.

Good luck.

Another vote for the showing being a really good time, don't feel pressured to be there as early as they recommend...it is meant to get you to buy their stuff. And renting a car is probably the cheapest route. Even if you had to do two trips to shuttle two seperate groups over there in a smaller car you could. Its not at all unrealistic. If you want to do Knott's do it the next day and then you could get away with renting the car for one long 24 hour period.

There are companies that provide tickets and transport. I'll post the links later. Have to go now

Boy..this is a tough one...a car would be a good idea, but our hotel charges $8.00 to park. We do plan to do Knotts...but on Dec 8th when admission is free with a toy for tots.
We have the same problem when looking at Universal. We could get the tickets for $44.00 (military- from mwr) then the transporation is the problem. I think we pretty well have to go with buying the tickets right from Universal to get the "free" shuttle (that shuttle will cost us $20 per person times 7 people).
So getting to Knotts is still my problem...unless we book a tour (thank you for the links).
All I can say is "I WISH I found this board before I booked us staying at the Peacock Inn". I would have done many things different!

Midieval Times- DH said to drop it due to transportation..will do Rainforest Cafe (unless a better idea for the first night)
Knotts- Free with toys 4 tots- No transporation <---ugh!
Kids really want to do Knotts
Disney for 4 days- will take $3.00pp shuttle
LAX to hotel- Xpress shuttle $81 each way for 7 of us

I really appreciate all your experience and advice.....Please keep the wealth of knowledge coming.

Medieval Times isa good show and a fun evening... but like people have already mentioned... don't spend extra on the junk. They also do an early show on Sunday nights that is a LOT cheaper.

The pirates adventure place... pass on that Cheap high school performance, so-so food, not as well done as Medieval Times.

:-)

regarding transportation... unfortunately, Southern California is notoriously bad for public transportation. everyone drives their own car here. There are taxis and public buses. you might check out the octa . net website... Orange County Transportation Authority. I know they do run buses there and I am sure there is something between Disneyland and Knott's.

Orange County does not have any express lines with their busses so that route is going to take a good hour or so to get from Anaheim to Buena Park.
The cost of a taxi would be roughly $30 if you don't want to tip. $100 should get you a car for a couple of days.

Its true there is companies that provide tickets and I hope you can find the links cause I sure cant seem to right now.

But its worth a look into because in my opinon Medieval Times is FANTASTIC!!! What a show they put on for you, and the food is quite tasty. Its not a show you get to see all the time and its a nice change of pace. The down side is YES they do try and sell you a lot of stuff but if you can look past it and just go for a good fun meal and show then its worth it. You get crowns and flags anyways when you go so its not like your not walking away with a goodie of some sorts.
