Should we do a weekend getaway?

My fiance and I just came back from a 5 day stay at Pop. I am seriously considering going to WDW in January, pbbly from January 2-4 to take advantage of the value rates at Pop (we loved it). The trip down there is about 12 hours. We would pbbly leave thursday afternoon after work and leave Sunday right after check out time. Do you think we should go for it. I extended my tickets to a 10 day park hopper with No Expiration before we left so we'll pbbly just use 2 day . 1 day at MK and 1 day at Epcot.

I was also considering joinning AAA soon so I can get the AAA member discount on our stay. How much of a discount do we get?

Also, how are crowds at that time? And are the operating hours short?

Crowds are usually very small after New Years. It's one of my favorite times to go!

Darn... I just reserved Pop for 2 nights with the AAA member discounts for Jan 2-4. It was a substantial discount. Now I just need to go to AAA's site and buy the membership soon. I figure AAA will pay for itself in discounts anyways.

I couldn't do a 12 hour drive for such a short trip. If you can though-- by all mean's book now!! My max is the flight time down there and that's 2.5 hours. I don't travel well. I get super antsy.
