should we change our dates for BTMRR?

My daughter has really been looking forward to trying BTMRR, and we only go to WDW once every 3 years. We will be departing from WDW on Nov. 18th, the day before it's scheduled to re-open on the 19th. We might could tweek our dates a bit, but are they likely to continue refurbishment after that date, or are they usually very exact about dates? We'd rather keep our vacation as it is, but if we were certain that they would open it back up on the 19th, we might just reconsider. Any thoughts??

Thanks!

Are you flying? Do you already have plane tickets? If yes, I wouldn't pay penalties to change it. With a refurbishment that long, it could go a few days one way or the other.

lexiluke - I'm wondering the same thing. My dd's were too young when we were there 4 years ago and I know they would love this ride. I do have my plane tickets and I am trying to decide if it's worth it to switch my dates. We were looking forward to MNSSHP but if we can't ride what we want is it worth it? Now i'm reading on some other threads about other rehabs while we are there. Yikes, I hadn't even considered this as a possibility.

lexiluke - We also go every three years and three years ago BTMRR was closed for rehab as well! We have lucked out this time however, although our planned dates to visit the MK were the 17th & 18th (figures huh? LOL), if things go according to schedule we will be able to sneek back in for this one on our MGM day before we leave. If however the rehab is extended it will just give us something to really look forward to next time (we may try a different time of year though).

I've been on this once, but my DH who has been to WDW 4 times has yet to be able to ride it! But even he says there are so many things to do and see you can never do them all, it is only one (albiet great) ride. At this point missing this ride has become a magical memory in itself!

Unless rescheduleing it easy and cost free I would't do it. It would be that much more upsetting if the schedule changes. I honestly think although Disney does a good job of planning there are factors beyong their control (like weather) that could change things.

Yeah, with so many other rides to enjoy, I shouldn't be so focused on this one. It's just that it's the only roller coaster type ride that the whole family can enjoy (at least our family!).

I just can't believe they would refurbish this ride during MNSSHP!

I am sorry that your DD will miss BTMRR, and if you aren't flying or can change your dates without penalty, then since it is really important to your family, then do so. However, if you are having to pay a penalty, it will give her something which she can look forward to next time. There is so much to do and see in WDW anyway.

Good luck with your decision.

They should hit their dates unless they find something during the rehab that adds work above and beyond what they planned. Sometimes they can just add more labor and make up the unplanned work but sometimes they can't...depends on the nature of the work.

Like the 'ol saying goes, "Nine women can't have a baby in one month!". :p
