I have an ADR for dinner at Cape May Cafe. I did not realize it was a Clam bake. Not sure how I missed that. I am not big into seafood. Should we do Chef Mickey? We have done it before and love it or the Captain's Grill?
We really enjoyed the Cape May Clambake. There are other options other than just the seafood. I'm sure you'll enjoy. In fact, DH made sure to tell me that we have to go again in September.
If you're not a seafood lover, I would rethink Cape May for dinner. If your party is just adults, I would visit the Captain's Grill. If there are children in your party, I would visit Chef Mickey's. You really can't go wrong with either place.
Cape May was one of the worst meals of our 12/08 trip. Mediocre food and almost a 1 hour wait despite our ADR. Our family of 6 unanimously agreed never to go back there.
I am not into clams at all. And I do not eat shrimp off a buffet. (I am leery of buffets anyway and usually do not go to them except at opening. I have seen way too much that should not be seen at buffets. )
I will eat at the CM clam bake when it is the choice of others. And I have never walked away hungry.
allears.net has the menus of the disney restaurants if you want to look at the menu to see if there is something you or your family like. We have enjoyed the CMC on our last 3 trips, my boys don't eat seafood and found many other things they liked. A couple of people have suggested Chef Mickeys and we went for dinner once and it was terrible, maybe we hit it on an off night, we have heard the breakfast is better than dinner. We hav'nt been to the Captains Grill yet, but it's been on my list of rest. to try. You may want to check out MickeyNickis pictures of CMC to help you make your decision. Linda
I have eaten at Cape May Cafe several times for dinner. I don't like seafood and haven't had any problem finding numerous things to eat there. Last year on our Grand Gathering trip (17 of us), everyone enjoyed dinner at Cape May Cafe. At least half of the people in our party don't care for seafood.
Our dinner at Chef Mickey's last year wasn't good at all. The character interaction was fun but the food was tasteless and not even hot. If you want to go to Chef Mickey's, I highly recommed Chef Mickey's breakfast over dinner.
I hate seafood and am allergic to shellfish, andI loved Cape May.There were so many other offerings that were not seafood, and the desserts were to die for.Plus there were kids offerings too which made it great for my dd.
Keep it! They have plenty to offer the non-seafood/fish eater. They have amazing baked chicken, ribs, roasted beef and I can't remember what else. I do not eat seafood or fish and had a wonderful meal here.
For some of the same reasons as you I considered cancelling our dinner at Cape May. Now I'm so glad we didn't cancel. It was excellent!
The baked chicken is perfectly cooked, very moist and flavorful.
The thing we learned this trip was to go out on a limb and try those places that I was afraid of trying. It really paid off in the end.
