We are going to Disney Sept 15th thru Sept 23 for our first trip for all of us. Our daughter is 4 years old. We bought the water park option with our park hopper. We have been thinking about cancelling the water parks and just spending the time in the parks. We have 7 full days and 2 half days there. So I guess I am asking do you think we will miss the WP if we cancel it and just spend time in the parks. How much time do you guys think we may spend in each park with a 4 year old that is only 35 inches tall (height restrictions in mind here)

Thanks

I think you will find that you will regret canceling the water park portion. It is always good to have something different to do especially with a 4 year old and they love water stuff.

I wouldn't consider canceling it unless you need the money because it does get hot in September in Florida. In fact, some of the hottest days I ever spent there was during that month. I think you will be glad you have that option.

We went to TL last week during our trip and it was a nice break from the heat. We were there at 9:00 (it was an EMH that morning) and the park was practically empty. We were able to do a lot before the park got really crowded by about 11:00. It was a fun thing for us to do for a 1/2 day, but I'm not sure we would spend the whole day there. TL does have a kiddie section that your daughter may enjoy. Since you seem to have enough time in your trip I would say keep the option.

Have a great time!

Personally I would cancel the water park option and if you do decide to hit one, just buy one day passes. There is SO much to do at the other parks that I can't imagine wanting to take more than one day off for your length of stay, especially not on your first trip.

Since its your first trip and everything will be new to you and your family I would recommend canceling your water park option. I think you should take your time and really see the parks. Having a four year old you will want to take afternoon breaks for swimming and napping. I agree with the other posters that your daughter would love the water park kiddie areas but I'd save it for your next trip

The pools at the resorts are usually very nice also and you don't have the hassle of trecking to a water park. That said, we do enjoy the water parks. Our first time was at TL when we had a 4 yo and a 3 yo and they loved the children's area. We just recently enjoyed several visits to Blizzard Beach and my 12,11 and 6 year old really loved it.

We just did our first trip there....10days...let me tell you, thank goodness we did not do the water parks . we only did Magic K., Epcot, AK and MGM. Just trying to schedule and Navigate around took some time and yet you manage to miss alot because there is not enough time. I have 10 6 and 4year old. Break time you will need! !
Spend it at the hotels pool, put floaties on the baby and relax a little.
We are going back in Sept this year, were hooked. enjoy, despina

If you already purchased the passes, I don't think you can "downgrade" them (aka cancelling the water parks). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

If this is your first trip and you are able I would cancel the water parks. I haven't done them yet, but can say there is so much in the other parks you will need all that time just to do that!

We have been taking our son every other year since he was three, he is now 11. We also go in Sept. and always go to the water parks. We usually go to them three or four times during the week, we absolutley love them. We will get there first thing in the morning and stay untill one or two in the afternoon when the sun really start to blaze. Then we go back to the room to freshen up for the evening. When he was three he would stand ankle deep in the wave pool and laugh right out loud when the wave started, and continue to laugh until it broke around his knees. Looking back on that I am glad that we did and still do the water parks. DON'T MISS THEM!!!!!

I would cancel them if possible. We have yet to go to one and I don't feel we have missed anything. There are waterparks near us that we can go to anytime. Next year as the girls will be older, we plan to spend one day at the TL but we are spending an extra day for this.

Honestly DDs were completely happy in the pool at the resort and even more so in the fountains at Ariel's grotto in MK and Epcot.

I'd say it depends on your daughter, does she enjoy water/slides?? Our dd's (8 & 6) love the water parks. This year we've scheduled 2 days to enjoy both BB & TL. They have areas that are great for children who aren't swimmers yet and smaller slides that they can go down alone. We've been going to Disney since our first dd was 4 months old. I found we need a slower paced day in between the parks to refresh them. They really didn't enjoy Epcot until last year. We would usually spend the evenings there after the water parks instead of a full day.

When I originaly booked our trip I got the waterpark option also. Then after looking at my itinerary I realized that I was only planning one day at the water park. Since, it is my kids first trip there I wanted them to experience as much of the theme parks as possible.

Also, my youngest is not quite 48 inches yet but my oldest is over that. I was worried about one being able to take advantage of all the slides and the other would not.

Then after looking at the additional cost I realized that if we cancelled the waterpark option but decided to go one day we would still pay a good bit less for just one day admissions.

Hello fellow Missourian :wave2: We did BB and TL for the first time this past trip. The only reason we did was due to it being a free option at the time. I would have never considered it in the past. Now that we have tried it and my kids got a taste of it, I doubt we will ever go again in a warm time and not go to the water parks :) They LOVED it and I did as well. I say give them a try if money isn't the biggest issue here. Have fun!

It is cheaper if you are just going to spend 1 day of your trip at a H2O park to cancel the option (in which you are also paying for Disneyquest, and PI) and pay for a 1 day ticket to the H2O park itself. We are skipping them altogether when we go in Nov. It might be too cool to enjoy, and mine are just as happy in the hotel pool. Plus we are there during H2O park "refurbishment."

lokin4deer,

You do not mention the number of days on your park hopper, so I am assuming that you have a 7 day hopper with water parks and more options (6 plus options). In our case we are staying from 9/24 to 9/30 for 7 days/6nights. If you are planning on returning next year or the year after I would suggest adding the no expiration option. We did this for our 7 day hopper water parks and more MYW tickets (which were originally 6 day MYW hopper tickets).

We did that because we have twin DD4 and want a relaxing vacation this time around and plan to visit the theme parks on 3 days and MNSSHP another night. Without MNSSHP this gives us 13 days of activites (7 days in theme parks and 6 days in waterparks). After the trip we plan to have remaining 4 theme park visits and 5 water park visits available (one is being used for morning of MNSSHP). This remaining "balance" is enough for two more relaxing week vacations at WDW of 2 theme park visits and 2(or 3) water park visits (4 or 5 days of activity).

We purchased prior to August 6th when the new pricing when into effect so (in my mind) we are already ahead in cost savings. Our next trip will probably be when they are 6( or 7) and our son is 3.5( or 4) and in the interim there will be in all likelihood more pricing adjustments and more savings for us.

Just another option.

Oh, and my wife an I also plan to use the one day we each have remaining on our 4 day Parkhopper passes from our 1994 Honeymoon at some point. This is our first trip back since then, and we are looking forward to sharing the Magic with our daughters and our son forever ( the latter DS 18 mth old is experiencing the magic of grandma and grandpa for this visit). The twins need some one on one Mommy and Daddy time away from little brother and before they hit school and it is their b-day Sept 2nd.
