We are due to arrive on July 24 through July 29. With all of this weather talk I am afraid our first WDW trip will be ruined. What should we do? We have the insurance coverage with the package. Should I cancel?

You're still a ways off from your trip. I'm not sure which kind of insurance you have, but even if you don't have insurance you should be able to cancel 5 days out.

I would wait until it gets closer. You might have other circumstances, however. Good luck with your decision.

Unless you can reschedule outside of hurricane season (and even then there is no guarantee the weather would be good), I would stick to your plan.

We survived Wilma. The parks weren't down very long and the weather afterwards could not have been better.

wayyy too far off to call now. Remember Florida has voltile weather. You're bound to get a few strong t-storms and rain mixed in regardless. However unless you are under a large weather system they don't last long and cool the place off! :)

Dont cancel. My Trip is in Mid July and I am keeping it as is. If it rains, so be it. Bring it on! :) LOL I am going to enjoy Disney!

When it is a little bit closer I would call the resort and see what reports they are getting. GL and I hope that you dont have to cancel..

Waaayyyy too far out to cancel. You are a month and a half out. You can cancel at 5 days if there is a weather situation you aren't comforable with and since you have insurance I wouldn't worry a bit. The weather man can't get tommorrow's forecast correct let alone a month and a half from now.

Why would you cancel now? You can't tell what the weather is going to be like so far off. From what I have heard even if there was a hurricane it shouldn't be a big deal, so unless you want to cancel and book for the following spring, I would keep your ressie's. :)

I noticed the quote under your posting about lemons and lemonade.

It is hard to make a decision based on possible weather over 6 weeks from now.

Alot would depend on what your cancellation terms are and how much money may be lost.

However, it is my understanding that WDW is a very safe place to be even during hurricanes and they have had alot of experience recently with this.

I personally wouldn't cancel, but that is just me, a person with a severe Disney addiction.

I was on the weather channel website last night looking up statistics for the dates I will be at Disney. It is usually in the high 90s, with no rain - just always the chance of afternoon rain. Hopefully this holds up for this year as well. :wave2:

No matter what time of year you go to Florida there can and will be issues with the weather and it doesnt only happen during hurricane season. A few years ago a good friend of mine went to Disney for Christmas and it rained for 2 days straight. It was cold and wet. They ended up leaving Disney 2 days early. A CM told her that they never usually experince weather like that in December...You never know :confused3 If I were you I would not cancel my plans and just have your mind set on having a wonderful vacation. I'm sure everything will work out just fine. :sunny:

I lived in Florida for 3 years and worked for Disney Reservation Center the whole time. Don't cancel your vacation. I stayed at the Grand Floridian during one hurricane and other than being in lockdown for a day everything was awesome. The park closed for a day. Even when it rains a lot of things are still available to do. Just remember to be a bit flexible. Maybe enjoy indoor attractions while it's raining. From June thru September it rains at least once per day. Sometimes hard sometimes just a sunshower. Don't let that stop you from enjoying the best vacation you will ever have! Heck, that's what rain ponchos are for. Have a great time!

AAAHHHH!!! I don't know what to say. You guys are absolutely awesome!!! You're right!! Whether it rains or not, we will be at Disney. I was so sad at the thought of having to cancel. Not only is this our first trip to WDW, but it is our first family vacation. Thank you guys so much. WDW here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep! Even *if* the parks are shut down, they do their best to bring the characters to you!
