Should we buy the hopper add on

What is nice, is you don't have to decide until you are there! While your tickets are active, you can add hopper if you find you need it. It is $40 per ticket (regardless of days on your ticket it is a flat rate). I wouldn't add it now.

Ditto - we never buy hoppers in advance and we never had to use them before our May trip....we wanted to watch Wishes before we left but we were schedule for MGM on our last day so Thursday night when we got back to the hotel we added on Hoppers for Friday only. PERFECT! Another thing I LOVE about WDW - you are never forced into something you might not need :sunny: 30 more days....I'm so excited!!!!

Personally I wouldn't buy the park hoppers. Yeah, the flexibility is cool, but you're already paying for flexibility with the water parks and more add-on. On trips without the hopper ability, I've known seeing fireworks at another park or going over there just for a quick snack is not in the cards, so I don't miss it - it doesn't come up. If you get bored in a park (does that happen?), go to DD or one of the water parks. There are also the resorts you can go dine in and check out. Want to see Wishes? Watch it from the Poly beach. I would recommend not doing the same park twice in a row and to let your 5 year-old pick which park to go to on the last day. And you might want to check out TourGuideMike to get the best plans for the time you'll be there - only $20.

Tour Guide Mike is a great idea to determine best park/attraction/ride for each day, even for a busy time of year. IMHO

I'm afraid we are hoppers as well. I think I would feel a little panicky if We didn't have that option. I guess we are just bouncy people!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Everyones different, but we hop! We often go to a park, afternoon rest (kids are 3, 6 and 8) and then out to a different park for dinner. As was stated above, we also use the last day or two hopping aroung doing our favorite attractions. Have a great time! :yay:

There are a lot of factors that go into deciding whether to hop. When hopping was free, it was a no-brainer. I always hopped.

Now, a 7-day (or 8-day or 9-day) park ticket costs just a few dollars more than a 4-day ticket, but park-hopping costs $48 (with tax).

You are traveling with a fairly small child. Are you going to be at Disney parks all day, every day? I think you might have a more enjoyable trip spending 6 or 7 partial days in the parks, rather than filling up your days.

My wife and I are going to Disney in January with our twin 4.5 y.o. daughters, and our barely 7 y.o. daughter. They really want to go to Sea World, and tickets at Sea World can be had for about $40 for 7 consecutive days of entry. We have purchased 7-day base tickets, and we plan to use Sea World as our hopping option rather than purchasing the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options.

I get the hopper ... yet I am no bunny and have not hopped yet ... but ... I LOVE the fact I can hop ... or maybe just bounce like Tigger ...

It really does depend on what you feel most comfortable with. If you don't get the hopper -- you probably will be fine -- and then if you think WOW - this would have been good to have ... there is always NEXT TRIP!!!

Wow,

Thanks for all of the great advice. One thing I didn't think about was just adding on an additional day instead of a park hopper, which would be cheaper actually.

It's not that the pre-MYW tickets had hopping for free, but that WDW did away with their less expensive tickets that allowed only one park per day. When we visited in 1996 and 1997, they had a 4-day value pass that allowed entry into the 3 theme parks (pre-Animal Kingdom) one day each, and on the 4th day you could repeat any one park. It was less expensive than the park hoppers, and that's why we bought it. They didn't have the value pass when we returned in 1999 - so we got used to park hopping.

I have had an annual pass more often than not since 2001, and I've gotten spoiled by being able to go to a park for a partial day without feeling like I'm wasting a day of admission.

The price to add park hopping is $47.93 with tax.

Just to make sure everyone is aware, the cost of adding the park hopper option is now $45.00

As NancyIL said, with tax, the total comes to $47.93

Just so you don't get there expecting one thing and finding another.

Just remember (since I asked this awhile back) that you can't go to two different theme parks in the same day without hopping (using two days of passes).

For example, if you have the water park option, you can go to a waterpark and one theme park, but you can't go to AK and MK in the same day using two days of tickets in one day. I thought you could, and found that you can't do that. (does that make sense?)
