SHould we buy the DDP?

We are neebies and going to SSR in December. We're wondering if the Disney Dining Plan is a good deal. We will be doing at least one character buffet a day with our daughter (already booked the reservations). Will the dining plan save us $?

If you are doing one character meal per day, the plan will likely save you a little $, especially if your daughter is young enough for the child price on the DDP.

It's really a math question. Figure out how much the buffets are and subtract that from the DDP.

Now you also get a CS meal and a snack. Would you normally eat them and do you want them? If what you want is to eat the buffet and have ALL other meals in your villa it's probalby NOT a good deal. If you will have lunch at the parks then it probably is.

IMHO it was just TOO much food. I cannot imagine a "buffet" a day for more then two days without feeling like I was going to explode LOL!

True, and Mom & I are not light eaters, We don't do character meals, but knowing they are pricey, I still think the DDP may be a slight savings to the OP.

That said, Mom & I do enjoy table service lunches with light CS dinners...but even when the gratuity WAS included with the DDP, we still didn't spend enough on food over the course of a trip to justify the DDP. And now, it isn't worth it for us at all, as we rarely eat desserts, usually appetizers and entrees, sometimes appetizers and split an entree, and then dessert, which isn't an option with the DDP.

When are you going in December? You might be under the higher holiday pricing for the buffets. It starts on the 16th according to allears.net

We did 5 character meals this year on the plan and with the increased holiday pricing in June we did come out ahead.
