Purchased these ears a last year, wore them at Disney World for the Osborne Electric light show & Fantasmic , as well as knowing we someday would go back to Disneyland.

Is there anywhere, other then WOC, in the DL & DCA park that we should have these on for??? (Other then just wearing them to look cool)

They should also interact with Disneyland Forever (fireworks), PtN (parade), and Fantasmic!. They also used to work wit Mad T Party, but I haven't seen anyone wearing them over there since the show started back up so I don't know if they still do anything.

DLR is now selling new Glow with the Show (now called Made With Magic) Mickey ears for the 60th (along with other items).

They also change colors depending on what area you are in... I remember them being red by Pirates, green and blue over by buzz and star tours... We carried ours around everywhere to see how they change by land :)

I enjoyed watching folks try to change the pattern on mine with those funny little sticks. While waiting for the parade a CM came up to me with one and click, shaking her head, clicked again, shaking her head, clicking over and over till she got to a pattern she liked. She said her entire job was to walk around and switch the light pattern on the ears. So wear them to give her, and the others with her job, something to do :)

The only problem was since I was wearing the ears I didn't get to see all the cool things they did

Mine didn't react at all to PTN, other than the CMs walking ahead of the parade had the paintbrush wand and kept changing them. They did work with the fireworks from where I was on Main St. They work with Fantasmic, but I didn't think it was all that exciting compared to the original WOC. I also wasn't that impressed with how they're used in the current WOC. Most of the time they did anything was in response to people changing them with the wands, which several guests ran up and stood in front of me when I was walking so they could try to make them react.

DLR now sells a few different Made with Magic items, specifically the Paintbrush and the Mickey Wand. Both can be used to change the light patterns on other Made With Magic/Glow with the Show items.

This Park Blog Post has the new 60th ears and the Paint Brush:

Thanks. I didn't know what to call them. I noticed they had some Mickey hands that light up with them too. I got a set of the 60th ears

Wow, many thanks all for the info and the links.. Was thinking of leaving the things in the hotel when we went over to Disneyland, but not any more... Not even going to tell the clan about this one, will save this as a surprise... :)

Have you ever changed the batteries? You might want to do it before you leave or bring extras, as the older models only last a few hours.

Wow! My oldest DD picked out a pair of these on our last night in the parks when we let our girls pick out a lighted toy or hat. I had NO idea they were "glow with the show" ears. I guess we have to pack our bags and go back so we can use them :-D

A few comments about batteries:

The first generation Glow with the Show Ears use 3 AAA batteries and have a small silver button on the base of one of the ears. This button will sense a finger press, to turn the ears on and off. This means the ears are never fully off, since some power is needed for the button to sense finger contact. Batteries left in the ears will likely be dead on the next use.

The second generation ears use 2 AAA batteries and have a mechanical power switch. Batteries left in the ears use no power during storage.

The new 60th anniversary ears are likely the same 2 AAA design, but I have not visited the park to verify.

A small phillips screwdriver is needed to access the batteries.

1st & 2nd gen have the same switch. 3rd gen Has the new switch. The current ears are 4th gen. That's why I suggested new batteries, the 3rd gen ears came out last summer, most people probably have the older ones.
