Should we bring shoes and socks to Disney World next week?

You should bring them, because why not? It doesn't hurt to have options. I'll be bringing a pair of Asics, Adidas, Keen Whisper and Teva Hurricane sandals AND Mush flip flops.
Not everyone wants to pack all that, particularly when flying. I think that's why the OP was asking.

I also wanted to add that no matter what kind of footwear I bring, I always bring at least two pairs, sometimes three, and I don't wear the same pair two days in a row. I also change socks in the middle of the day when I'm wearing walking shoes. Keeping my feet dry is the most important thing to prevent me from getting blisters.

I just wore keens, but mostly socks with them. They're ideal because they can get completely soaked and not take damage, are lightweight, and dry quickly. A change of socks and you feel fresh again. Also good if you have any swelling, because they aren't constraining. I will say that if I go again I want to try alternating between two pairs of shoes, as I've read people suggesting that. You know you best. In comparison with California, the weather Florida is swamp hell. Pack the shoes you would wear to swamp hell. ;)[/QUOTE
I cracked up when I read your post! I mean out loud laughing about swamp hell. My husband looked at me like I was crazy and I read your post and he cracked up just as much. So funny, and so true!!

No way would I wear tennis shoes and socks. I wear crocs or teva flip flops only. Not only are they more comfortable imho, but it rains at least some almost daily during the summer and wearing wet socks and shoes around is no fun (just ask my husband who had to do just that yesterday).

Yeah. Gotta do tennis shoes. I love flip flops. Did one day of flip flops at seaworld and will never do again

I agree. I tried doing flip flops a time or two at WDW and I felt it all over--legs, back, you name it. Full disclosure: I'm old & out of shape so factor that in. I couldn't do Crocs either, same thing. I do immediately switch from shoes & socks to flips as soon as I hit the door at the resort room.:earsboy:

I always wear my tennis shoes/socks in the parks. I might wear my crocs sandals if we are just popping in for a meal/short evening. I need good walking shoes when I get in my 20-30k steps in the park.

I never wear socks when I am down there, and I don't own sneakers. I rely solely on sandals and flip flops. I have planters fasciitis and my tevas have served me well.

Personally for me sandals and I don't do well walking a lot like in the parks with them. I always pack walking shoes and socks and sandals for walking short distances around the resort or even Disney Springs.

:earsgirl::earsgirl:I usually wear flip flops, but I always bring tennis shoes just in case. My daughters refuse to wear any shoes that aren't flip flops. They give me the insulted teenage look if I suggest otherwise.

I will say that there are lots and lots of strollers, scooters, and people! This breeds ample opportunity to get toes smushed. Sneakers might be safer.

I would go with either a sandal you are used to walking in, or socks and sneakers. When I was a little kid, I got tons of blisters from sandals, and on a more recent trip, the one day that I dared to wear flip flops, they broke! I always go for sneakers, to be safe. It's a little hot, but it's better for walking.

NEXT week I'll be at Disney World for the first time ever. It will also be my first time in Florida, same with my DH and our two girls. This might be a dumb question, but should we bring shoes and socks? We're really into Keen sandals. If you're curious, check them out here: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=keen+sandals&rh=i:aps,k:keen+sandals

Is it hot and humid 24/7? Does it cool down AT ALL in the evening? Last year when we went to Disneyland for 8 days I packed a pair of shoes with socks, but never wore them. So they just wasted space in my suit case. I'm thinking it will be the same at DW, but I'm just not sure. And we'll be bringing more than one pair of sandals.

Wouldn't step foot on property without my keen H20s. Use clearwater for the waterparks/beaches

Croc black Cleos are my 'dress' shoes for dinner. However, if doing a signature ala CaGrill do step it up a notch with a dressy pair of sandals i.e. Croc wedges lol

I wear NB 'cush' tennies on way down, with lo cut socks as i refuse to put my bare feet on the airport floor when i don't get free Precheck w/TSA. Now & again will wear them in the parks, usually on either end of PH day.

I am not a sneaker person unless I am using the to go on a run. If you plan on bringing the wear them on the plane.

I only do sneakers and socks, while my DW and DDs will almost always wear sandals, and yes we are at the parks all day:) We drive and they take FULL advantage of the space in our van, we have a duffle bag that they fill just with their shoes:eek: and my 1 pair of sandals that I wear to the pool:rotfl:

I always bring more than one pair of shoes so I can let my feet breathe. It is A LOT of walking so I've always found that rotating between shoes is the best way to keep blisters at bay.
