NEXT week I'll be at Disney World for the first time ever. It will also be my first time in Florida, same with my DH and our two girls. This might be a dumb question, but should we bring shoes and socks? We're really into Keen sandals. If you're curious, check them out here: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...keywords=keen+sandals&rh=i:aps,k:keen+sandals

Is it hot and humid 24/7? Does it cool down AT ALL in the evening? Last year when we went to Disneyland for 8 days I packed a pair of shoes with socks, but never wore them. So they just wasted space in my suit case. I'm thinking it will be the same at DW, but I'm just not sure. And we'll be bringing more than one pair of sandals.

Bring'em. As much as you love your sandals, you do a TON of walking. On our trip in January, our first day in Epcot, we did over 9 miles of walking. Also, depending on what type of meals you are planning, if the restaurant has a dress code, you may not be able to wear your sandals. My DGF has a pair of Keen's and she doesn't rely on them solely when we go, she has a pair of Brooks sneakers she wears as well.

Your feet will thank you for the sneakers at some point in DW.

As far as the weather, it's Central Florida getting into summer mode. It's gonna be hot and humid. It'll be somewhat worse after the daily 4pm storm, lol, but it relieves the heat some.

I just came back last night after 10 days there and it was hot and humid every day. We had one night cool down after a downpour but that was it.

I alternate between Crocs flip flops and my sneakers, just in case. I always feel better with a back up. I used to insist on sneakers at WDW until I found Crocs flip flops.

We were there May 17-22. I brought 3 pairs of Keen sandals and wore nothing else whenever we left the room, including to dinner at signature restaurants.

When we go during cool weather I wear absorbent socks and shoes made for walking, but my Keens are all I need when it's hot!

We always wear tennis shoes with socks. DH does wear Keen Newports at other times, but not in the parks. Tennis shoes have better support of the entire foot. And, while we always go in late fall, even in mid-Nov temps have been 90 more than a few times. Keen Newports have covered toes which is a must.

When it's hot at WDW I live in sandals and flip flops. No blisters or hot sweaty feet. I've never worn tennis shoes there, but that's just what works for me. DH loves his sneakers.

I have croc sandals and flip flops and now always bring moisture wicking socks and my Asics sneakers. The sneakers are super lightweight with mesh uppers so no sweaty feet here. Alternating the shoes really is a life saver for me.

I always bring sandals and socks and sneakers. For me it helps alternating between the two. Also, in the evenings the temps can dip down and with AC, I like having socks and sneaks to keep my feet warm.

I guess it depends what you are comfortable walking in. People say the average walking distance in a day is over 10 miles. I don't have any evidence of that, but it is a lot of walking and standing. We wear comfortable running shoes and socks. We pack flip flops in our backpack for water rides. We drive so space is never an issue. We each have 2 pairs of running shoes, 2 pairs of flip flops, and DD has a pair of Crocs.

There are a few things that will immediately ruin a Disney vacation: blisters on the feet, heat/friction rashes in the wrong places, and sunburn. Be prepared for each of those and you should be fine no matter what you choose.

I would bring sneakers and socks, just to be safe. If someone has a bad day, they have a backup. Personally, I love my flip flops and sandals but would never consider that kind of walking in them. No judgement on anyone else, I just definitely couldn't do it.

I always bring them and wear them in the parks more often than not. I have sandals, but I like my sneaks and socks, especially if it is hot.

I pack approximately 6-10 pairs of shoes! (My husband freaks out every trip). Different outfits "require" different shoes, lol. Funny thing is, I almost always end up wearing my sneakers every day! I save my "pretty" sandals and/or heels for evenings when we are only going to nice dinner, then right back to resort lounge for night-caps. Socks are always a must for in the room, as my hubby keeps the temps freezing, lol!!

I think you and my wife are long lost sisters.

I just wore keens, but mostly socks with them. They're ideal because they can get completely soaked and not take damage, are lightweight, and dry quickly. A change of socks and you feel fresh again. Also good if you have any swelling, because they aren't constraining. I will say that if I go again I want to try alternating between two pairs of shoes, as I've read people suggesting that. You know you best. In comparison with California, the weather Florida is swamp hell. Pack the shoes you would wear to swamp hell. ;)
