Should we be able to edit posts?

I don't know about you, but it annoys me sometimes when posts are removed by the poster in question just because a thread doesn't go their way.

Perhaps removing the ability to edit posts - or the ability to edit posts after 5 replies - would make people more responsible for their posts.

I might agree if this were a different type of board.....but this is a "just for fun" Walt Disney World based board. I like things the way they are.

I've never had to edit out my entire post before. I guess I am not controversial enough to warrant it. I have only edited out spelling mistakes.

I go to another message board where you can only edit up until 60 minutes after the post is written. I like that compromise.

Nah. If someone says anything too inflamitory it's usually quoted by someone else by the time the offender gets to changing it. If they thought better of thier snarky content and changed things before it was quoted then that's all good too. It means that people are editing themselves.

I agree with Robinb.

I edit my posts sometimes, for typing and spelling errors, and sometimes to add something I forgot to post, usually immediately after I post the post. If I catch something later I always post why I edited my post.

I really don't care who erases their posts after they've been posted. It kind of strikes my funny bone sometimes, because then everyone elses' posts look off the wall or my interest is piqued etc. :teeth:

I like being able to edit. I'm impulsive sometimes and what I see written isn't always what I planned to say. I like being able to fix it.

These threads can get heated and people can say things they regret. I agree with Robinb, we should be able to go back and edit. Most of the time some one will have already quoted you anyway and you can't edit that.

I dont care about anything like that, Im a blonde

even if you hurry and quote them it could still be wrong :teeth:

This is funny...someone posted this same question a while back! Such an odd thing to come up twice!

I have no problem with the edit feature. :)
If you are all that concerned that someone will change it and it won't be there for you to read anymore, then quote it. No big deal.

But Eye Cain't Spuel Guud! Ann eye nead 2 bee aple 2 edut my posts. :lmao:

It used to be you could completely delete your post, like it was never there. At least with editing, there is evidence that you posted. I only edit if I made a spelling mistake or thought of something more to add, but before anyone else posts.

What really irks me is the fact that you can't edit a poll once it's submitted.
I've messed up on my share of polls, and would love to be able to go back and change it, but NO. it just stays the way it is, laughing at you, saying "come and change me if you can". :furious:
