Should we all upgrade to APs?

Budgeting for our November 2018 trip! There will be 5 of us in total - 1 infant, 1 child and 3 Disney adults.

We are planning to stay at CBR for 14-16 days, depending on what ends up happening with free dining.

We probably would NOT add waterpark tickets as I think the pool at CBR would be good enough for 2 little ones.

We'd have 10 day PH's - IF we do get APs, we will likely return in October of 2019 to get the best value out of them.

Is this a no brainer??

Yes!

Yes. Upgrade to an AP. It will save you money if you come back again within the year.

Thanks! Look like the difference will only be $933 to upgrade the 4 of us (taking Memory Maker, which I was planning on getting, into account). WORST CASE, if we don't end up going back, I think that's worth it to me for the extra 4-6 days in the park. Trying to convince DH that IF we go back it'll "practically be free" due to the AP room discount. HA!

this gets all AP holders.. you'll be back, more than 1 more trip :) We all suffer with it burning a hole in our pocket and when travel costs, cheap room and an extra day off work/school lines up, you'll be coming down to see something opening/closing soon.

You might want to look at the cost of only one of the adults getting the AP. Then you have less to lose if you don't make it back - plus you still get all of the discounts if you do make it back.

Won't you have to purchase a certain number of days of tickets to get free dining? I guess you could just hold on to those for a future trip for after the AP expires, though. Just seems like a lot of money to shell out at this point, if you aren't sure you'll be going back within the year.

tickets can be upgraded for the price difference so for fastpasses, tehy just need to get the 10 days.. and if they decide closer or during to not upgrade, no big deal they were doing 10 days in the parks already.

now if you can show how free dining is cheaper than the AP food discount, I'll be amazed.

I was planning on just upgrading the tickets we buy for the FD package to turn them into APs - wouldn't consider doing it otherwise.

I agree with @Accident. You should run the numbers if you're planning to purchase an AP. You can buy discounted 10 day tickets through Undercover Tourist, ParkSavers, etc. and upgrade to an AP at a discount. Then you can take advantage of the room discount instead of FD.

I also agree with @melanielll - if you aren't certain you'll be back, just get one AP. You'll realize all the savings and perks, without the added cost. When we went this past November, I was the only one who got an AP. Not counting the cost of our room (because we got a special deal with our TA), and traveling with a group of 5 (4 Disney adults, 1 child), we broke even on the cost to upgrade my ticket. We want to go back in September, but we might not be able to...so it worked out to not get everyone's tickets upgraded. My point is, run the numbers and see what the best deal would be for you.

We have a trip scheduled this December and are considering upgrading everyone to an AP also. I already have one since I was coming down multiple times this year for conferences. My husband would have been absolutely against it until I got to schedule to see the sneak preview of Pandora. Then he saw the savings I was getting on the room and he decided it would be a good idea to upgrade the whole family.

It sounds like it would be a good value in your situation.
