I have friends who I've helped with Disney planning who are down there right now--and they said it is a downpour with no stop in sight. I see on the weather it looks the same tomorrow--they called and asked if they should still go tomorrow-I said yes-but maybe they shouldn't? If you are only there for 1 day (first time for them also) would you want to go when its pouring? We do it but we love Disney-they aren't that into it. The weather doesn't look good there.

Right now it's coming in waves, hard rain, sprinkle, hard rain...you get it..As long as they've got ponchos and don't mind getting their feet wet, why not?

I say go for it!! I am sure Disney will make an annoucement if they need to stay at there resort!

A rainy day at Disney is better then a regular old day at home!!!! I am sure Disney has some magic still on a bad rainy day!!!!

We went to MK today. On a break before dinner right now. My family thought I was nuts. It was as described above - heavy rain, sprinkle, nothing, heavy rain etc. I said to my husband (trying to help him see the "bright side") that it was no more miserable than it would be if it were 96 degrees and sweaty... I mean, sunny :). Before 2pm we had had breakfast at Crystal Palace, done Space Mountain twice, Buzz twice, Stitch (so NOT worth it), all of Fantasyland, C of P, Haunted Mansion. Overall, a great day. I keep trying to tell my husband that I'm always right :goodvibes

That said, tomorrow does look worse. We have a planned rest day tomorrow anyway. Not sure if I'd brave it while the storm was actually coming through - which it is supposed to do tomorrow.

Good luck to them.

If they aren't that into Disney, any amount of rain might ruin their day. Today the rain has been spotty sprinkles with an occasional heavy rain for 15 or 20 minutes. Just depends on how badly they want to go. If it was me - I'd be there in an instant!

I personsally would rather go with weather like this, the crowds are a bit smaller, and the sun isn't as hot. I know it's not fun to have rainy days on your FL vacation, but we really need this. Go to disney, it's better than sitting around the pool. The weather will clear up just as soon as the storm passes.

I say put on a good poncho and go, midday they may want to go back and change put on dry clothes and start again. We did this during the remnants of one hurricane (just rain it was not a hurricane but a tropical storm) and we had a great time, saw so much and we still talk of that very soggy day... :sunny:

I was just watching the weather channel and it says tomorrow the storm is supposed to hit land. It was just announced that it is not a hurricane yet but still has potential, by Wednesday it is supposed to be on the way up the coast. Can they hold out until Wed? Things look better then.

DH and I were sitting outside this morning when it started downpouring and he looked over at me and said "Do you want to go over to MK?" I didn't but that just goes to show that even us locals know when it's the best time to go!!!
They should go!!

Hahahaha...we did the same thing yesterday afternoon.

I say go...most people will be staying in and you can ride as many of the rides as you want, at least the ones that are open.

I actually was thinking of all the people at WDW with this storm coming! ARG!!! Just what you need - rain and more rain. I am certainly no expert but I was wondering if it is better to go to MGM where there are some long inside shows vs MK where the rides are so fun to go on (even though there are some inside shows there too). So am anxious to hear what others think and throwing a little pixie dust to those in the rain!!!

We arrived one year the day before, I want to say Hurricane Fran went over FL--not too big of a deal, but cool and a lot of rain. We were not about to lose a day, so we put on ponchos and headed to Epcot, to FW. Since most of it is inside, it worked out very well. A couple of times we were caught in a downpour, but we just made a run for it. The park was virtually empty. MGM would probably be a good choice, too.

My vote is for them to go. As long as it's rain and not a hurricane. Of course, if it turns into a hurricane, they'll close the parks anyway. We were there last year for Wilma and they closed the parks till 1:00 PM. It would be a shame for them to miss a day at Disney if they can stand being in the rain for a while. How about if it clears up after a while, they will have missed the day.

I was in Disney this past Saturday...and it was sooo sunny!

And HOT! I would have loved some cloud cover and rain! I say just tell them to get some ponchos and be happy with the short lines! :)

First, I just checked the national weather service web site www.nws.noaa.gov and the latest report has the storm tracking closer to the panhandle of Florida (and thus, farther away from Orlando). My family lives in Tampa, so I watch every hurricane closely--the storm could easily track even further north, and Orlando could get very little rain.

We were at WDW in November and it rained all afternoon one day--we went to Typhoon Lagoon and there was no one there--it was fantastic. I realize that if you have one day at Disney you won't go to the water parks, but, I agree--a rainy day at WDW can be better than a regular day elsewhere. Besides, even at MK a lot of the rides are inside.

Thanks everyone-especially you guys actually in FL right now! I told them to go. I'm hoping the crowds will be low.

We were at the MK tonight! We didn't get there till around 9 or so, and it was pretty empty. We walked on most of the rides and then stayed for the 2nd Spectra Magic, we had a lot of fun and it never even rained. :teeth:
