Should the Pope apologize??

Teejay, don't you know better than to quibble over inconsistencies that don't fit the narrative? They've got books to sell!

His tortured testimony was not valuable. The President was lying. That's the summary

oh that's just super. Other sources say he was convicted in absentia in Jordan for a millennium plot; a witness says he ran training camps; the BBC says he was al-Q's main recruiter in the 90's and "used at least 37 aliases and is considered a master of disguise." Leave it to Americans to want to round up the nut fringe and then worry about their mental health.

Wasn't Hitler considered the same? Look what he accomplished with those handicaps.

Fits Ann Coulter to a tee, doesn't it! :teeth:

So those that say torture is an effective interrogation technique, I posit this:

You're saying that every one of our soldiers in Iraq are a security threat. Because if any one of them is captured they could be tortured and will give away valuable information.

Possibly. Unless they have their H.S. football team committed to memory.

However, special forces are trained to resist breaking under interrogation than the mess hall "chef" would be.

Depends on what he's apologizing for

For upsetting the Muslim community- okay, maybe then they will stop doing what he was speaking against.

For stating not only facts ( the proof is in the pudding) but also his feeling- No how do you in all honesty apologize for something you believe to be the truth.

So special forces are the only strong soldiers in Iraq?

Your attempt to pin me into a corner is noted.

In the case of interrogation they would most likely be able to hold out the longest. But that doesn't mean the other soldiers are weak.

You mean like they do with this guy?

The Bubba Christ. :rotfl2:

And yes, just like that guy.

love our pope

the only mistake he has made to date is apologizing to those b......rds

I support him through and through :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

But that's my point. Most of the guys I know aren't special forces, but they would die rather than give up information. They'd give what they think you want to hear, or what would pass off as valuable information.

I'm not sure what your point is here. Do you really think that the only thing McCain and other POW's gave up, information wise, is the stuff they made up? That's completely untrue.

And can anyone tell me how we tracked down the ********, insane, and mentally disturbed Al Qaeda member? Not how we got his name, but how we caught him?

wikipedia says his phone calls were traced to an apartment in Pakistan.

(shhh... I wrote that) :rolleyes1

So how, exactly, did we track him down?

And just so I'm clear on this - You are saying the President and John McCain and the CIA don't really believe cohersive interogation works? They just do it for the hell of it?
Tell us how we tracked him. Make your attempted point. Perhaps it will be cogent. Unprecedented.

The President may believe it works. He believes a lot of things. But he may like it for other reasons as well

It isn't? :confused3

You mean it's no more reliable that Dan "Memogate" Rather?

The Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,909911,00.html

The first break came just after midnight on March 28 last year. FBI agents in Pakistan had picked up a rare satellite telephone call from a top-ranking al-Qaida suspect. They called up their contacts with Pakistan's police and the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency and raced to the two-storey house in a suburb of Faisalabad.

Police inspector Malik Mohammad Khalid was one of the first to enter the house, where he encountered a young militant who shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is most great) three times and ran at the armed police officers. He was shot three times and taken to hospital. Dozens of other Saudis and Pakistanis were arrested as police and agents searched the house.

Only later did they realise the militant was a Palestinian named Abu Zubaydah, one of Osama bin Laden's top associates, who was responsible for running two al-Qaida camps in Afghanistan. It was the first in a long series of arrests, each a step closer to Bin Laden's inner circle.

Al-Ahram weekly online:
http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2003/630/int2.htm

Worthy of note in relation to all of these breakthroughs is the fact that almost all were achieved as a result of US-Pakistani cooperation. Since 9/11 Pakistan has been host to numerous FBI and other US intelligence and security officials. US intelligence monitoring, too, has been keeping a particular eye on Pakistan. The constant hope is that Al-Qa'eda members will slip up and make a phone call that can be picked up by satellites and subsequently lead to their location being revealed.

This is the manner in which Abu-Zubaydah and Ramzi Bin Al-Shibh were caught. US satellites picked up a call made by Abu-Zubaydah on a satellite telephone, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials informed the Pakistanis, who rushed to a house in Faisalabad and subsequently caught the Palestinian. The same sequence of events was repeated in the case of Al-Shibh.

I think I've asked this several times (forgive me if I missed any answers) but since all of the interrogation techniques you just sited are unacceptable to you, please tell us how to get critical information out of a person that you believe holds information to keep our soldiers on the battlefield safe and us safe here at home.

And skip the claim that they don't work. They do.

Keep it simple cause you know I'm an ignoramous.

Same way a NYC detective gets information out of an uncooperative suspect. They don't need torture, so why the hell does anybody else? Or maybe you don't think the job of keeping the public safe from criminals is really is all that important.

Do you honestly believe the only way to get information is through torture? People like you really believe you're in a unique position in history. That's really what this is all about. It started out with the crap that this was going to be a war unlike any other, and the fact is, it's just like every other. The difference is the major players really do believe they're people of destiny who have to reinvent the wheel.

And, no, you're not an ignoramus, but sometimes you play one. ;)
