Should the Bay Lake Tower viewing be open to all DVC Members?

I don't think this would cause a major parking issue, or cause members to "cheat the system" and park at the contemporary when going to the MK just because they could visit the lounge. If a DVC member wanted to cheat and park at the contemporary and go to the MK, they could do that now, by saying they wanted to pool hop at the contemporary pool.

I really don't think that if you opened it to all members that you would see massive crowds, maybe just a decent showing, enough to make it worth it to the servers, and maybe save the lounge for the DVC community even after BLT sold out.

absolutely it should be opened.....they could come up with a reservation system for those staying outside BLT....cap it at a certain number so as to not overwhelm the members on site

so let me get this straight as to what a "cheater" is......If I go to the boardwalk to have dinner, then catch a game at ESPN....then decide to walk over and catch illuminations, once i cross into epcot I am a "cheater"???.......guilty as charged!

At the point you had the dinner and/or drank at ESPN watching the game, you're no longer guilty. You're innocent!! :littleangel: Take away those two things, and then you're guilty.

If you have reservations at Chef Mickey's, the Wave or Cali Grill, you can park at the CR parking as well. Not cheating, then either, even if you do include a trip to the park afterwards. It's when you park there PURELY for the park that's cheating.

I wonder though, is it written anywhere in BLT membership docs that use of the lounge is provided for guests staying at the resort? If it is, I do not think this perk could be just stopped. But knowing Disney they probably covered all the bases.

The BLT documentation explicitly states Top of the World Lounge is not part of ownership.

The Attic was never available to DVC members. In the early sales promotional info when BWV started sales, it was listed as a perk (place for members to watch the fireworks), but that was revoked well before the resort opened and disappeared from all sales info.

It is used for private groups and catered events.

It does have a great view of Illuminations from the Balcony. We had the room 2 doors down and took a peek on our last trip. It was being used a few days, but most nights it was empty and open.

Why not open it up to all DVC members at 6 months, when many are making their ADRs for some of the harder to get reservations anyway (like at LeCellier)? :confused3

If reservations are done through DVC member services (like it used to be) and NOT through WDW Dining, you limit it to DVC members and guests only, and they can take a credit card guarantee (for a food and drink minimum, say $25 a head/adult and $12.50/child), which is refundable, but ONLY if cancelled more than 48hours out. This way management knows how many are scheduled to be there on any given night, plans appropriately for staffing and supplies, and they "sell" a minimum amount of food and drink, whether they show up or not. I think this would work, it would make a lot of DVC members happy, and the mechanisms are already in place to easily make this happen. JMHO. :surfweb:

If and only if it's a Jets game do you become a cheater, all Patriots games are good! Same applies to the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins :worship:

hoping that once Disney starts to rent it - then the nights that is not rented then DVC members can watch the fireworks there.

the lounge is very nice - but the fireworks are what the marjority is there to see.

the lounge is definitely for selling BLT.

boy if this thing only lasts until BLT sells out - then this is probably the last year for it. So next year we will have to see if DVC members still get access to the TOWL.
