Should 'taken' be against the rules?

Is anyone else a bit annoyed at how the staff aren't really doing anything about the taken dilemma? It just escalates into worst things.
For example, this lovely room was created by an a particularly unintelligent individual, and it is very obvious that is something you really don't want your 8-14 kids to see.

So should they start enforcing a ban against taken? It really isn't sutible for their target audience and this would actually be bad publicity if someone took an interest. I want to go and suck the hormones out of the kids that think this something cool to do.

Down with taken!

When I first saw that, I thought the exact same thing. I completely agree that the room should be closed and the owner banned. It is rather inappropriate for the younger VMK players to be exposed to.

I have no clue what you are talking or even trying to say.

I agree. I read it and confuzzled myself.

Oh that is nothing, I saw the Play Boy room. I was about to report the person, when I was booted. Then when I went looking for it, it was gone. So ty VMK.

They are refering to the boys watch girls dance on tables room, second on the list, just below the host game.

I agree that room should be removed....

(Now Zeta's dancing on tables, another story)

LOL that is the funniest room name I have ever seen! :lmao:

VMK Staff have said that they don't plan on making the "taken" thing a no-no.

Think about this....VMK's one sole purpose is to get people to love this game so much that get addicted to it and want to go to a Disney theme park! Ka-ching! Money for Disney! I'd say about 80+% of VMK are "taken" people. If they banned "taken" they would lose SOOO many customers it wouldn't be funny! These "not-so-bright" individuals wouldn't want to play the game anymore.

I think Disney just doesn't want to chance losing people even if it might be at the expense of a few good players who are annoyed by "taken"

I don't know...just my 2 cents...

I think it should be banned and whoever does it taken down the black hole too. It takes the magic away from the game and have thought about leaving VMK because of it more times then I can think. It gets on my nerves so much.

I changed my hair color to purple (it used to match my now dead golden ears) in the Esplanade and was asked within 10 seconds a very creative yet unspeakable way of saying 'are you gay?'. I could of told her the answer (no) but I found reporting far more satisfying.

Lol. That was pointless. Just a fyi!

I am very new to vmk yet my 8 and 9 yr old girls are in awe of it when I play. They are begging me to let them play also but mainly because of the "taken" situation as well as some other unmannerly behavior I have seen from the "target" crowd I am hestitant to allow them the previlige.

Yeah I saw that too a while back. While the title was awful itself, the description was even more disturbing. I have always been against this "taken" behavior and strongly believe vmk would be a better place without it.

If you see an inappropriate room title report it and let staff handle it. They will send the owner a pop up asking them to change it or face the consequences.

Having a "naughty" room title has nothing to do with the "taken thing".

Just a reminder everyone, it is not against the VMK values to do the "taken" thing. Many kids for whatever reason enjoy it and do not feel complete without a boi or a gurl. I certainly dont agree and always voice my opinion on that but whatever, let them play. Taking the word "taken" out of the dictionary wont change the human nature of the kids who play it.

For the most part- taken is harmless and fairly innocent... for the most part.

Kids in real life play like having a boyfriend/girlfriend- I remember having a "boyfriend" in 1st grade many many years ago- he was a friend who was a boy lol- and some little boy called my house to speak to my 8yo daughter the other day- I shook my head when my almost 14yo was outraged by it- and how she gave the poor boy the third degree before handing the phone to her little sister and allowing the boy to ask a question about homework.

So yeah lots of the taken thing is kids playing- they see it on their tv shows- remember the target population for shows like Raven and Lizzie were much younger than the characters themselves. So yes they do like to play that-

When it gets out of hand- and I think VMK is good about policing the room names for the most part- is the rooms like seen above and like one other mom mention when they describe acts more explicitly-

In those cases I think the kids participating in the behaviors are a bit on the higher side of the target age range for VMK- and many are seeing "how far can I push this before I get a warning or banned" Many times it is a "guest123456" that has some of the questionable room titles.

The whole taken thing is very annoying- and I really think it makes lots of little girls look pathetic when they enter a room and start asking every boy character if they are taken- (I say girls because that is the majority of people so aggressive with it- which also mirrors real life) and usually I'll just ignore or if the person walks into a guest room that I am in- believe me I will tell them something- and I have learned I enjoy playing with them and telling them things- some get upset= others may learn...

VMK is not going stop the taken thing- they did have a say on the mommy baby thing- of course now all say mummy and bay be- but yeah they don't like that but will still allow day cares and things like that- because a lot of it is the kids playing like they do in real life-

I'm sure the majority is innocent- but we have all seen the worse things as well- and yes those should be reported- and those of us with younger children should be aware of what they are doing and where they are going- and educate them to call for help (parents first) if needed and staff if necessary.

But yeah taken is annoying- should it be banned?- no...
Should the people who open rooms like that- and the "make-out" rooms be banned?- yes definitely -that is a clear violation of values.

Actually it has a lot to do with the taken stuff. I went in there and almost every thing that was said was "Are you taken?"

I HATE THE TAKEN THING TOO! THERE WAS THIS ROOM WHERE IT HAS BOYS LOCKED UP AND GIRLS DANCING AND TAKING CLOTHES OFF! AND THEY GOT BANNED FROM ME. (no boys came though)

yeah this taken thing has gotten way super out of control! i remember the first week i played vmk there was pretty much no taken! i think that was the best week of the whole game! :thumbsup2 lol.. I do think that some of this is just kids playing house to some extent. Because i do know that when i was little i loved playing house and if i was still little and there was vmk i would probably play house on there to. I think house has more to do with the baby thing more then the taken thing but.. yeah. I know that my brother a few weeks ago made a sleepover room because he wanted to pretend to have a sleep over ( he is only 6) but he titled it girls and boys sleep over.. now he did not understand that this was a bad thing at all, so when i told him to change it he did not understand why. Im not sure what i told him but he did change the title and i know that possible some of these room titles are accidents from little kids that dont understand that it is wrong. ( the one you should in the thread is definately not an accident)

The taken thing is just a word for something that's very popular amongst youth... I don't know about you, but have you taken a look at kids lately? I always see middle schoolers holding hands and making out. VMK is targeted at 8-14 year olds. Studies have shown that a pretty good percentage of kids have engaged in certain adult behaviors before reaching high school! And it's only going to increase in the future just because that's the way our society has evolved.

Statistics aside, our culture has always imprinted the idea that romantic relationships are really important. Doesn't practically every Disney movie have some kind of prince/princess/love story thing going on? It's not surprising that kids would want that, too --- especially in a Disney-sponsored environment. I don't know how many little girls I see on VMK crying about wanting a prince.

I agree that rooms like the ones posted are against values and should be reported and banned. But good luck getting rid of taken. It'd be against human, societal, and Disney nature. Even if you got rid of "taken"... kids, who are pretty clever, would just find another way to do it.

that is very true if the taken thing is taken out of the game that disney would loose a lot of vmk players. vmk is amied for 8-14 year olds. if you have a problem then dont play it! its just a computer game that lets you make rooms, hang out, and have a blast playing games!i have heard a lot of rumors on vmk that if the taken thing does not stop then they will close down vmk for ever!! i think it is just a lot of adults trying to scare little kids! and there is a 99% that you will never meet these ppl ever in real life. a lot of the ppl on vmk that are taken i just see talking to there boys and gurls about sports, and school, music, and wdw.
