Should I wait to buy a new 4th gen Ipod Touch?

We are getting my DS a replacement ipod touch (4th gen) after we broke his by accident

My DH has a ton of best buy gift certificates from work so we are going to pick one up from Best Buy....I've noticed they dropped their price already a few dollars this week after the announcement of the next generation Touch specs. Do you think they will drop more (right now they are selling them for $179.99)? I'm torn between grabbing it up now just so we know we have it or waiting to see if we can save some money....

Sheesh, I obviously did not read that throughly. Sorry.

I would think the prices may drop again on the 4th generation once the 5th generation starts shipping & become available in the stores.

Have you checked with an apple store? We were able to get DS a new 4th gen after "accidently" breaking his. It was $99 with the stores "out of warrently replacement policy"

Would you consider giving your son the full credit for the iPod that you broke? That way he can decide.

Current one now for regular price (no waiting!)
Newer one for regular price (but have to wait)
Current one but for a lower price... and get to pocket the difference if they choose to wait.

My youngest is 8. She would be able to make the decision, and would enjoy the thought of iPod + cash difference (even if ultimately she might choose the other options)

I ordered DD a iPod Touch for her 7th birthday present. I got a refurbished 32GB from the Apple Store for $180. I ordered it Tuesday and it arrived today. Perfect condition! This is the third refurbished iPod I've bought and every one of them has looked brand new.

I have a job where I work with Apple products in various retailers....

What I have seen in the past is that they only lower it once and sell them at that price. They will start to go fast so if you want that one, get it now.

During the announcement on Wed, it appeared they would continue to sell both models. They listed the prices for the new Ipod Touch, and the current sized model also. Usually they would only put the prices of the models they will keep selling on their presentation slides.
